Charles, you got to stop tempting me with the 75Lux! Very nicely shot! This is possibly one of Mandler's finest design?
Luka, very nice set! I like #1 most. Love the composition and color. You're getting a lot of really nice shots with this lens.
Charles I like the 75lux at near infinity distances!
I'll tell you guys how the "A" strap turns out. Yes though, this 50ZM is really quite stiff with focusing, kinda like the 50 MP ZE, but maybe a slight bit more stiff since it's small and harder to grip. The other 50ZM I borrow, wasn't so stiff which is why I asked.
Will post some photos when I have a chance to use the lens.
Kok, nice shots from Tokyo! I love #2 with the guy in the shadows and the guy in the sun.
Joe nice shot with the 35 Cron.
Charles, another nice portrait with the 75 Lux. I'm not a great fan of flash for portraits but you pulled it off quite well.
I don't really have anything new to post - have not had time to shoot the past few days. I did find this photo that made me laugh (I'll explain why):
This is a photo of a 100 cm x 70 cm print from an M9 image and the print looks really nice. Now for what made me laugh: Look at the bottom edges of the first and second window - doesn't it look to you like the windows are "peeling" off the print? That's Zeiss that can't help being a Zeiss, producing 3D where there is really none That scratch seen on the print is also actually just on the printed image and not on the physical print..
The SF58 is an excellent flash unit with M9, if you have to use flash. I usually despise using flash, and is one of the main reasons why I opted for low light photography in the first place. I really don't like the typical stunned rabbit flash shots, but I suppose that is more to do with good technique, rather than flash photography. The Reid review is excellent on how he uses the flash, in particular the SF58. Very interesting reading!
Luka, very nice large print! Great 3D!!! I am also finding the large prints from the M9, to be nothing short of amazing. Half the subtle detail more often than not is lost on web presentation, whereas on the large prints it is there.
Thanks for the reading tip Charles. I'm completely incompetent when it comes to flash photography. I always get that as you put it "stunned rabbit" look no matter how I bounce the flash. So I just stick to using fast lenses
Anyway, I had to take at least one photo today, just pro forma. As it's #@!#¤ cold outside it's just one of my standard subjects shot from my balcony:
Ron, excellent shots! Great colours and WB. Which program do you use PP?
Joe, there is meant to be some difference between the Canadian and German version. Yet some say there is no difference at all. The German version is the last run of these lenses. I would be happy with a good copy of either
My copy of this lens just came in the mail the other day. I got a beater German version of the lens. Not sure what the differences are, if any, between the German and Canadian versions. Supposedly the German version is 100g lighter. Don't know how or why. Or if it's even true.
I haven't yet developed any rolls from it. I will say that the lens is big, but not too big to be unmanageable. The biggest ergonomic strike against is its stiff focus compared to my other lenses.
Kidtexas, congratulations on your 75 Lux! Yes the German version is meant to be about 100g lighter. I find the ergonomics are excellent. The focusing I find incredibly accurate, even when it's very dark. I have the chrome/brass version of the 50 Lux Asph, and it feels about the same weight. I suppose I am used of the 85L and 50L for portraits, and these were both heavy and large in comparison.
Yeah it's not THAT big. I don't imagine it will be a lens I'll carry around just in case. If it's in the bag, I will most likely be using it some. Unlike my 90/4 - that goes on trips and sometimes never comes out. But it's pretty small and light so it's not a big deal.
Do you find the focusing to be stiffer than your other Leica lenses? It's very accurate and precise, just has more damping than my other ones.
