I personally think the bokeh is good but at times seems a bit edgy. However, so much depends on the subject, distance, lighting, etc. I also agree the RX1 bokeh is very good but IMO it has become overhyped and not as good as some claim....
No profile applied, developed in Haselblad Phocus. I only shot a few photos so far, but so far I am liking it although it does not have as much pop as the Zeiss Contax 35/1.4
Yeah, like any lens, it will be a matter of getting to know how it handles a variety of situations.

Ceder, fantastic shots, especially the one of your daughter, which has an outstanding feel of clarity, transparency. In fact, I think this is the main feature of the distagon, even though it has less 3D pop than the C/Y.

As a matter of fact, I'm starting to get bored of the character of the C-Sonnar. I think I will revert back to the planar, except for low light shots where the Sonnar really shines.
However, on the 35mm front, I am pretty sure now that the biogon has nothing to offer over the distagon, except size and weight. I doubt it will get much use from now on, so I might be selling it.
Thanks Edward! And thanks for your photos - I had mine pre-ordered, but decided to actually go for it based on your shots! I was not 100% sure about it, because of the fact that Cosina soon will release their Nokton 35/1.7, but since I have the M9, I thought f1.4 trumps the smaller size of the Nokton. But I do love the 'new' Nokton 50/1.5 look, the sharpness, pop, and brass build is top notch, and I would like to have both Noktons. But I think I made the right decision, zm35 and M9 @ ISO 800, f1.4 and 1/30 are very nice, giving new life to the M9 at night! (sorry for no uploads of those shots - family pics only so far). I think it will be a 'work-horse'!

To be honest, I was a bit hesitant to get the distagon, because I was extremely satisfied with the biogon f/2. However, now, I am very happy I did it. It's really a huge step over the biogon, and arguably the best 35 in Leica M mount, at least in sharpness and flatness of field terms.
Ron - I do have quite a few Contax645 lenses. And I was toying with the idea of trying the adapter. But everyone I've asked who has the adapter says that the Contax lenses don't hold up on a digital sensor. Apparently they really show their age, and the S-lenses are far superior. That hasn't stopped any of us from using old M lenses or LTM lenses etc. So it's not really an excuse. I guess I haven't really seen many samples, so I couldn't tell you either way. That and their really isn't much I'm "in need" of for the S-system. The adapter is definitely something I'm still considering purchasing, I'm just unsure of how much use any lens other then the 70 will get.
I suppose I could spring for the adapter, it would be cheaper then buying the 35-S.
(EDIT: Also forgot to note, apparently AF is better on the S-system then it was on the Contax645, even with Contax lenses. The makro is a MF-only lens though.)
I'm also curious about the upcoming 35/1.7 Nokton, though expect it will probably be a mellower lens, like most from Cosina I've seen/used/own. Might not be a bad thing though... Curious too where it will fall in terms of price, considering the 50/1.5 and 35/1.2.
Edward - I've enjoyed your near distance people and things photos with the Sonnar. I think more than I would from the Planar. But I can see your point about daily life on the streets images, where a more neutral character could be desirable. Maybe a 50 Lux ASPH?
Joakim - feels a bit melancholy. Also reminds me of walks in the Englischer Garten in Munich at this time of year, which due to my schedule, was often when I was there. Maybe it's a bit of nostalgia for those visits.
René - love the first one.
Adam - I'd be surprised if the Contax 645 lenses were suddenly crap... I mean, weren't there digital backs for that system? OK, maybe only ~20MP, but still... It's probably a question of character vs. technical perfection, just as you say, like using vintage glass on the M system. The adapter definitely isn't a cheap one, but maybe worth a try?
Allen, was at Tamarkin yest. picking up my 90 from cleaning. They had your work up but not labels. Seeing them in person was quite a treat as so much more to be seen in a hard print. So Congrats and I really enjoyed them.
Thanks for the comments guys. I did try to focus on the white bird but focus and re-compose is a whole different affair at 0.95 or 1.1 and I feel I need to learn it again with the Noctilux. This coupled with my old sin of shooting to few exposures, click-click and I'm done, of a scene of course makes it even harder to come home with a well focused shoot. More practice is needed...
Ron - I agree.. I'm wondering if the people using the S-system are just technical snobs I think from a cost to gain standpoint the adapter makes sense. I have quite a few C645 lenses left. So really I'm gaining a lot of variety. Although, I sold a lot of my backup Contax645 gear before I came to L.A., and have a few buyers lined up to buy more of the stuff (most of my non-backup lenses) when I get back to SG in April. So I might just get rid of all the remaining Contax gear and pickup another S-lens (I might keep one C645+80/2).
I think if I had purchased an S-007 (still not available). I would be more willing to buy into the S-system. Since the ISO right now is a pretty limiting factor, add slow AF and the camera buffer/review is a bit slower then I'd like. It makes me wary of spending the money on S-lenses with the S-006 body.
If I bought this system for work, I'd need two bodies, and be tossed between 35/70/120 or 45/100 (which means I'd probably end up with all of them). But for now, it's being used as a supplementary work/play camera. So sticking with one lens is fine (or two, since I now have the macro).
Also, at the price point, it gets increasingly hard to justify a system like this for work. Especially when an M240kit/5D3kit/D750kit/A7kit is just as usable if not more so. It's a lot easier for zhangyue to justify these purchases then it is for me from a strictly business standpoint. And although the same could be said for the M-system.. I do get a lot more joy out of using a rangefinder then I do any other camera system on the market. And the M240 is more then enough for my work needs.
So this isn't a 120mm photo (will post some soon), but another with the 70mm. This time I took out my colorchecker and made a profile for the S-system before I took this image. So the image is corrected as per the colorchecker's standards. Does anyone feel this photo has better colors then previous images I've posed?
BTW, aside from the colorchecker profile, and the white balance, the only thing I did was crush the blacks a tiny bit.
