Just wanted to share something I learnt today from popflash. The guy I talked to every time is Alex and he told me that these are not used or demo camera. They are what the Leica calls QM2 units. These are the camera that leica quality check found to have cosmetic blemishes (close to none grossly). They don't sell them as new and they call stores like popflash to sell them. This is the reason they have like new 2yr warranty on it and not the used/refurbished leica warranty of 90days. It also seems leica controls the pricing too as popflash has a used leica M that is about 60 dollars more but has only 30 day warranty coz is what popflash is selling as used camera and not the leica QM2.

That's interesting. All I know is the store I bought from said mine is a 'demo' camera and comes with the full warranty... What did you end up buying? Another QM2 unit, or something used. I noticed they have a fair number of used M240s...

I got another qm2. If there is any issue this time i will probably send this to leica.
You never, ever want to send anything to Leica, unless there is absolutely no alternative. You might not see it for many months. It might come back with the same problem.
It works perfectly when you get it, or it's returned. That's the safest and quickest way to get productive.
Very nice set Gary! That door is crazy, and a great find. I love these kinds of scenes with the 21 SEM. It's so good across the frame.

I don't know... so far my success rate with Leica NJ has been very good, though I also haven't sent them anything really challenging. Yes, they can be slow... that is a problem. And if it's out of warranty, it won't be cheap, if they bill you for it. As I mentioned, at least with M body/RF calibration, they can do it quickly if you ask nicely.
That's as far as getting something repaired that I've owned for a while. If it was something new to me from a store, then I'd seriously consider exchanging it. As Charlie states, it'll be faster than sending to Leica... Though doing it more than a couple times will probably win you no favors with the store, right or wrong.
@uhoh7, if the issue is small it is better I send to leica like calibration etc. If its bigger like it stops working or sensor issue or shutter issue etc it goes back to dealer. I don't want to come across as a shady guy.
@ron,i agree with you on sending back. And popflash has been nice with me this time and they probably will be next time too if the reason is reasonable.
But I'm hoping it was just a bad luck and this time I am gonna be a happy owner clicking away the M.
Do you guys have extra charger too. I got an extra battery ordered to avoid issue like the last time but I wonder if everyone recommend having an extra charger too.
Gary, I really like the rich color and texture in the door shot.
Ron, the last shot looking between the buildings is really nice.
Ryan, the shot of the little girl is fantastic. Great story telling.
