I remember reading somewhere that those lenses have a large enough image circle to use on the Leica S. Is the 50S sensor larger than the sensor in the S?
Thanks. The Leica S has a 45x30mm sensor vs a 43.8x32.9mm for the Fuji GFX 50S.
So far I have checked two M lenses, the WATE 16-18-21/4 and the Summilux-M 50/1.4 ASPH. Their image circles are not large enough for the 50S. I also checked the Summilux-R 80/1.4. It’s image circle doesn’t seem to be large enough either.
The 50S also lets one choose sub-areas of the full 4x3 sensor, such as 3x2, 16x9, 1x1, 65x24, 5x4, and 7x6 formats.
One can also choose the central 36x24mm FF part of the 43.8x32.9mm sensor with the latest firmware version 3.30.
However, none of this makes really any sense, as the native Fujinon GF lenses have such a stellar optical quality.

From my testing with my A7r and my Cambo Actus, I have found that my Leica R 28mm f2.8 Super Angulon PC, Leica R 100mm f2.8 Apo-Macro-Elmarit, Leica R 100mm f4 Bellows Macro, and Leica R180mm f3.4 Apo-Telyt lenses all have image circles large enought to cover the size of the Fujifilm 50 cameras- 33mm X44mm. I believe that any of the Leica 180mm 2,8 Apo, Leica R 180mm f2 Summicron, and Leica R 280mm f2 Apo-Telyt lenses should also have image circles large enough to cover the Fujifilm 50 cameras.

Thanks Rich. I will have a look at the some of the lenses you mentioned.

Thanks Rich.
Here are a few Fuji GFX 50S images, shot with the Leica APO-Telyt-R 180/3.4 of the Moon.
Of course the images are not cropped.

Those who say, that Summicron R 35/2 is soft in the corners wide open are right.Honestly speaking it is slightly soft even at f8,but I love it anyways.
How are R 50/2 corners at f8? How would you rate it for landscapes? Any other suggestion for 50 mm landscape lens for EF mount?

R 50/2 is sharp allover at f8.For 50 in EF mount I would recommend to search among native AF primes.
Thanks, but I prefer old lenses. When I wrote EF mount, it was to exclude rangefinder lenses options. I was just interested in your opinion because I got impression you have tried a bunch of lenses.
I have 35, 60 and 90mm R Elmarits. So far I am not that impressed with the R 60 for landscapes. That's why I asked about R 50/2.

I got so many old 50mm lenses, that you should ask more specifically. In general all 50mm manual primes from renovned manufacturers are suitable for landscape.
Older macros like 60/2.8 are not ideal for landscape. They usually get sharp across the frame at f5.6,but above that they are perfectly acceptable.I use Leica R lenses not for their sharpness first of all,but for their absolutely unique colour rendition. And 60/2.8 excells in this compartment.Typical Leica.
