Leitz Elmarit R 80-200/4 ROM has arrived lately and paired my lonely L V-E R 35-70/4 ROM.I did not have much time to test it thoroughly, but the results so far are very good/excellent on the A72.It is sharp wide open throuought the range, very sharp and very crisp stopped down 1-2f stops and has nice Leica colours.I have yet to search it on behalf of eventual Leica glow.
Here how it goes in pretty much unfavourable conditions,i.e. wide open, hand held in a gloomy, misty November day on the A72.
Sublime images! Thanks Peire.
I also own those 2 Leica R lenses.
They deliver great IQ on my Sony cameras.
I should receive next week a Kipon Leica R to Fuji G adapter.
Then I should be able to find out if their image circle is large enough
to cover the Fuji GFX 50S sensor of 43.8 × 32.9mm and 51.4MP.
I am most interested though if the following two Leica R lenses
280/4 and 105-280/4.2 cover the 50S image circle?
My Leica R 28-90/2.8-4.5 unfortunately needs some CLA first.
It's supposed to be sharper than the 35-70/4. But mine isn't. :-(

Thank you Karl-Heinz.I see that you have some top Leica R glass already. Fujinon GF experience with 24x36mm format lenses is also a challenging activity.Larger format has always it's advantages over smaller.Colour gradation and tonality is what I like most in your GFX pictures.FF just can not match.
Hi Andrew,
nice review indeed. I could use same words for a lot of Leica-R lenses, even if resolution is not as good as the very best new optics from edge to edge wide opened. Actually, the compromise between resolution, colour shades, grey scale and rendering is still fascinating with these "vintage" lenses.
Perhaps, you should review them with an IBIS/SR camera as Nikon Z7 (next Panasonic S1R). I have a Pentax K-1 (II) and I am very pleased with it, probably the first and the last OVF IBIS FF camera.
For example, in the zooms classroom, the Leica Vario-Elmar-R 35-70/4 is also an astounding/outstanding lens even at f:4, not very well known and not too expensive for what it is. So, I prefer using Leica Elmarit-R 28/2.8 E55, Leica Vario-Elmar-R 35-70/4 and Leica Apo-Summicron-R Asph 90/2 in stade of the Leica R 28-90/2.8-4.5 but the use is not exactly identical...
Thank you for sharing and best regards.

I remember reading somewhere that those lenses have a large enough image circle to use on the Leica S. Is the 50S sensor larger than the sensor in the S?
