I think the 50/1.4 is actually pretty damn good at close range. The above 100% crops are sharpened and unsharpened versions. Obviously unsharpened crops are the norm but we sharpen (slightly) in the real world so that's why I also posted the sharpened version.
John, the 50/1.4 does great in these shots, very delicate and excellent colour handling right up the to the top of the tone range. Fine contrast for wide open, and good bokeh foreground and behind.
I am guessing you mean the slight CA/'flare' and a bit of edge distortion in the 28/2.8 image; nothing to worry about, for me anyway. It always produces an elegant image I think, with not much to complain about. Very good depth to the room too, and surprisingly restrained colour - I have only used mine for outdoors, where it works like a toned down, less 'frantic' 21mm.
lenticular11, 6700m Mount Kailash has been calling to people for millenia!
It is the centre of the universe for Hinduism, Buddhism and the Bon religion, so around 2 billion people. It is 65-70 kms away in this image, so the lens held detail well enough as it was a backdrop. If you ever want to go, you know who to ask about it ;~)
