Christ... the D700 looks good at ISO2500 (referring to low-light concert photo).

I must admit - I would like to have this lens. I'm not much of a 24mm shooter, so I'll never buy it, but it would be nice to play with the DOF possibilities. This lens screams indoor/wedding/street shooter/getting close to crap outdoors, though, and so far it seems like it delivers.

Now a 35 f/1.4 - that would make me start saving.

I rented one for a week. What a lens! Unfortunately it poured rain almost the whole time I had it, so I didn't use it as much as I would have liked. All wide open @ 1.4:

I just ordered one from J&R but have been hearing rumors that there were AF problems.
has anyone experienced it yet? I'm anxious to get my lens so I can test it out.

Picked mine up on Friday.

I still cant believe that I don't need to think about stopping it down to get a sharp shot. My 50 and 85 are pretty much nailed at f/2 to get the best compromise between shallow DOF and sharpness, but this thing is count-the-eyelashes sharp at 1.4.

Philip- have you had any focus issues with yours? I have had a few random front focused shots, usually at short range. 90% seem to be spot on, but I haven't seen this behavior with other lenses. I could be just being paranoid from the stuff I've read. I should have a better feel for it after a couple more weeks of shooting.

I have a bridal sesh on Wednesday, I'm going to try and work in a few shots with this lens.

In the meantime, here's a couple from the weekend, these are all wide open

Nice, Erik! Congrats on the lens. No focus issues...the lens does take some getting used to while shooting wide open at that wide of a FL. The more you use it, the more it will shine. Is that Lustre Pearl I see? LOVE that place! Where is that rock climbing at??

Ya, I went to Lloyd's site and read about the issues that some other people were having, and I don't have anything like that. My lens seems to be dead on 90% of the time, and the rest could easily be user error, esp considering f/1.4.

Yes, that's Lustre Pearl. I like it a lot too, I love that whole area, with G'raj Mahal, Lustre, Clive and El Naranjo.

The rock climbing is in a cove on Lake Travis near Pace Bend Park.

MPEX call me and said they had one in for me. I already have one. They might still have it, I'm not sure how long the list of preorders was.

How do all the 24 1.4 owners here feel about the focus speed? What do you think your keeper percentage would be when shooting people wide open that are moving around?
