Anil, your shot without the TC is so incredibly sharp and detailed. I am really anxious to see what you can get with the TC. I've decided to get the 300/2.8L instead of the 500, so I am anxious to see know how good it is with the 2x. Please post some images soon!

Yeah .. even handheld, that image is sharp. Imagine if I had not been dumb enough to not use a tripod. With the 2x TC, you might be really disappointed. I'll post some samples soon though. My long lens technique is still raw and that might be one reason.

With a 2x TC you HAVE to use a much higher shutter speed and/or have very good technique - or use a tripod or monopod at least. It is well documented that this lens does better with TCs than any other super-tele - very good with the 1.4x TC and "good" with the 2x TC or 2 stacked 1.4x TCs.

Whayne, what an absolutely beautiful series of photos! As spectacular as all of the animal shots are, the 3rd from the last (landscape) is my favorite. Outstanding!
