I also got the same concrete info about it coming out this year and that they will likely only make it 1.4 - too bad! 1.2 would have really been something unique.
Lets all email them and go on about how there are X many great manual focus options at 35/1.4 and as such we would be MUCH more inclined to buy their offering if it was a super unique 1.2!

I certainly do I have the AiS, C/Y and the L. If this after all turns out to be 1.4 and not 1.2, I might not get it... Wait. Who am I trying to kid...
I must show this to my wife. She thinks I have LAS.

I'm happy I haven't bought into any primes below 50mm yet. I'll probably hold out for this.
+1
I'm in the same situation. Hopefully they'll release it during the summer... I'm really tired of being stuck with only a 50 and 85.

Yakim,
Did did you mean Lens Acquisition Syndrome, or Lame As Sh*t? In the case of the former, who are you trying to kid? For the latter, I wouldn't go that far, but remember, she's always right!

wow. ~$350 from reputable sellers. toss out an additional $30 for a precision matte screen, and that might be something worth experimenting with.
...and yes, it is more than worth "experimenting with". Sharp from wide open and super-smooth bokeh. For a number of us around here, it is our main 85mm lens. Search this forum for Rokinon and Samyang. Also see the Alternative Image Thread 3.

I meant the former. And yes, I know I only try to kid myself.
I had one of the first Vivitar 85/1.4s but returned it. Missed it got the Rokinon for $100 less. Might be fun to own a "no name" lens but wouldn't that make service and resale a bit tougher?

I found some on e-bay a few months ago that looked identical to all the others, with the gold "name plate" and all, but with no brand. It was just an "85mm f1.4 Aspherical lens". That's it. "No name".
