Aren't they Made in Korea? Where working & living conditions are the equal of rest of the Western World?

Note that much of the production of the big Japanese companies has moved to the Phillipines (Pentax), Vietnam (Pentax), Thailand (Nikon), China (Nikon and Canon) and other poor countries.

This must be mistaken with North Korea? South Korea is totally different, it's one of the "tigers" in Asia.

Man, if they throw in a fast 50 as well they would have the 'Korean Trinity'...

As a Nikon shooter, I'll be intrigued to see how the 35/1.4 performs! Not a great fan of wide open Nikon ai-s 35 or 50mm bokeh... Something that approaches the 35L wide open would be incredible...

Eagerly awaiting the Samyang 35 1.2 and the rumored Zeiss ZE 35 1.4 in the New Year!
Looks like Zeiss should have gotten their 35 1.4 out sooner.

If only a few other more established third party lens manufacturers were so keen on building fast glass...Sigma for example...They could have bought out a 30mm f1.2, instead they went for a 30mm f1.4. They could have made a 50mm f1.2, instead they went for a 50mm f1.4 and when they revamped the 10-20mm they could have made it a constant f2.8 but instead made it a constant f4...They really could take a leaf out of Samyangs book if they want to stay ahead of the pack.

I think with the increasingly clean high ISO's available it becomes impractical to carry heavy fast glass for some people. I do enjoy the extremes from time to time though, and even if it isn't a mass seller, it brings prestige and interest to the company.

Absolutely, Korea is by no means backward, well South Korea that is!

This 35 1.2 sounds great and if is anything like the 85 1.4 it should be a little cracker and hopefully the price of a christmas cracker too!

Good point, but I still find myself in situations where f/1.2 and iso6400 just is not enough :P Blame badly lit concert venues!

It isn't norwegian black metal if you can see ANY light!

Seriously, in the worst venues here I get away with f/2.0 ISO1600 1/180s... I feel for you We must have overambitious lighting guys round these parts.

I'm meant to shoot a live band in December, with the M9... we'll see how that goes, I always have the 50/1.1 nokton I suppose. Have a portrait session coming up the 90/2.8 elmarit's time to shine!

I'd be very interested to see price and pictures, especially WRT sharpness wide open and bokeh.

Happy shooting,
Yakim.
