Looks like xmas will be happening twice. Aparantly Samyang is planning to announce a 35/1.2 for canon in Q1 2010 and 35/1.4's for the other players (no 1.2 due to mount size restrictions).
I love it -- even Samyang has their own rumor mill working now.
If they really do release a 35/1.4 for Nikon I will definitely buy to compare to my AI-S Nikkor, a lens which has never really had me wanting except in the bokeh department. And the 85/1.4 Samyang is great there, an easier feat for a short tele than normal/wide angle, but we'll see!
Well if its optimised for wide open performance and the 85 is anything to go by then it should provide plenty of bang for buck.
That's if it ever comes into existence of course.
A working 35/1.2, "sharp" wide open and with good bokeh? That would be a short version of their 85/1.4 and if they make it come true - well, very good for us all!
I had pretty much settled on a Pentax 31mm f/1.8 limited, now I'm not so sure. This would be over a stop faster and the one weakness of the Pentax - CA is also the weakness of the Samyang 85, so I may wait to see what samples of this lens look like.
This might be a silly question but where can one purchase Samyang lenses? I've only been able to find them on eBay as Adorama and BH don't have them. I'm in the U.S. if that has any relevance.
The Samyang lenses are sold under many different brands. Cameta camera in NY has the Rokinon 85/1.4 for $255. B&H sells the same lens under the Bower brand for $350. They are also marketed as Polar, Opteka,
Vivitar Series 1, and probably several other brands. As far as I know, optically they are all the same, with some cosmetic differences.

They are being sold as the new Vivitar Series 1 lenses by the larger retailers, but you might find them badged as a Polar (And there are probably a dozen other brands licensing them) as well. Ebay also has them.
