No electronic aperture control - guess that would've been too ambitous to implement in across all those different mount... More reason to believe that the optical quality - price ratio must be excellent!

You can get this 35/1.4 and the 14/2.8, put them in a pot and stir hard

"Samyang 35 mm F1.4 AS UMC was constructed to fit most popular reflexive cameras with small sensors".

I think that's just a bad translation. I got confused about that as well. 135 used to be "small format" you know.

When attached to the small sensor camera, the lens will act as bright, wide-angle lens perfect for landscape and reporting shooting. The same lens mounted on the camera with APS-C sensor, will become a popular, multitask 50mm lens

@MWP: I think it probably will. They did update the 85/1.4 to include a chip not too long ago.

Great! Now the 14/2.8, 35/1.4 and 85/1.4 makes for a good travel kit

If the price is like the 85 1.4, I'll just order one before the samples :P

yes, this is a 'feature' i can live without. not only does it mean i can use the lens on my older film cameras, it also means a lower-cost lens! win-win!

Happy shooting,
Yakim.

This must be the longest ever thread in anticipation of a lens. Strange that the lens is not a Zeiss, Leica, OM, etc .

We need to start adding some photos here.

You can install the Dadelion chip to make it into a CPU lens,no? Gosh, why can't they announce the price right now?

If you read the entire paragraph, it is obvious that it is designed for FF, APS-C and 4/3rds.

"Samyang 35 mm F1.4 AS UMC was constructed to fit most popular reflexive cameras with small sensors. 35mm focal length has universal applications. When attached to the small sensor camera, the lens will act as bright, wide-angle lens perfect for landscape and reporting shooting. The same lens mounted on the camera with APS-C sensor, will become a popular, multitask 50mm lens. In case of cameras with 3:4 system, Samyang 35 mm F1.4 AS UMC will turn into a short, bright portrait lens with 70mm focal length equivalent.

Yes.

Or, if you are a Canon user just buy the Nikon version and stick a chipped adapter on it.

Cognitech, have you installed the chip yet? I'm thinking of trying one. Other than ability to utilize the 3D matrix metering and EXIF data, is there any other advantage? I have a D300

I don't need no stiiinkin' chips. I use a 5D + Ee-S

It sounds like 3D matrix metering and EXIF would be great benefits for a Nikonian, though. The thing is, the Nikon version of this lens should already have that support built in, as it has been built in to the second revision of the 85/1.4 for Nikon mount.
