Personal insults... nice. This is getting better and better. Where are the moderators? The lock should be in place, and the ban stick should be swinging.

i've been having a writers block for a long time now...see, i'm working on a screenplay and i've been stumped...but now its all coming together...i'm actually just about done...the title? "You've Been Served II: Photographer's Edition". its going to star james franco as sergio mottola, the young hip tog on the cutting edge and alec baldwin as prof fate, the grizzled, traditional veteran tog.

there is a great scene at the end where serg and prof work a spinning wheel together to the tune of unchained melody...not sure if thats been done yet, but its gonna be pretty sweet.

I don't believe that I've seen this kind of wry humor from you before cans... but you can be sure that I'll have an eye out for it.

Another great set here Sergio. As always.

To those who think that Sergio creates "fad" imagery that will come and go and be a thing of the past, to me, you are flat wrong. For others to say what sells and what does not is silly. He is obviously doing something right if he is creating this kind of work, and selling $1k+ packages all day long.

Sergio offers a style unparalleled to many many professionals that I know or have even seen. His work is a breath of fresh air. Its so original, so unique. If I were a senior, I'd hire him any day of the week over someone like "Fuzzy" or the "proper" way to photograph seniors of the "Masters" style. Sure, "Masters" style sells; so does Sergios. I pick him hands down.

debating what sells - and who's got this "senior" thing down is as the pigeon's in "BOLT" say: "REDONCULOUS"

both prof_fate and Sergio have a style that sells in their market and their nitch.

there is no right or wrong here.... only 2 different ways to skin a senior ! and a place for both as has been well outlined. If in the same market Prof_fate and Sergio would not be competing that's for sure..... the city would be big enough for them both.

a classic case of "to each their own"

good work !

It's a neat shot...of a "implied" bum (not sure who he really is), but it's a terrible senior shot. What is your subject? The bum or the senior? It's clearly not the senior. If you think it's pure genius, go to his website, view his gallery and compare this set to his excellent work on the site. They don't compare.

I laughed loudly at the thought of the last scene chum.
Gave the assistant a bit of a fright!

This is actually one of my favorites on your website. I really like it even with the hairs there. This is the stuff that makes you shine. I bet the original without the processing looks gorgeous too.

RobertLynn, I'm quite familiar with Sergios work, his style and what he does. The shot that I linked with the "bum" is just awesomeness. Whether you like it or not is your taste.

Sergio is actually going to shoot a wedding in AZ with me this weekend, can't wait to see what he cranks out.

I think the fact that people are able to isolate specific photos from your series and suggest that they have no relevance implies that some of your shots lack cohesion with the rest of the series. The shots in the series are supposed to complement each other, not be distracting. People are clearly distracted by the shot of the man with the post, so much that it diverts attention from your other work.

For me, it's not really as distracting that your subject is so out of the focus plane as to be unrecognizable except by shape (although I can't find any benefit to this type of style), but rather, the "bum" is a huge distractor. For me, the "bum" takes away any value that the shot might have otherwise had insofar as its stylistic interpretation is concerned... in other words, if you left the "bum" out, you might have had a passable shot, but it still would have required a huge stretch of the imagination.

There's no real reason to try and keep proving your style to nay-sayers ... although, to be frank, I'd leave this particular senior set out of my portfolio were I you.

good luck...

i love the bum shot, a little out there for a senior series but i commend the creativity/risk-taking. if i could be a senior again i would want this shot included in the series.

what im trying to say is, its time to agree to disagree on this and move on. no consesus will ever be met

I don't see the point to this shot. All the others are great but this one just doesn't belong. Who is that guy?
