I've been exploring and when I explore I tend to get skunked. Last places I've gone to are Sibley's in the berkeley hills looking for that darn eagle and the place is so vast even if I found the eagle it would have been another Dwarf Eagle. I've gone to the Claremont Canyon Regional Preserve, not much to see here but sweeping views of the bay, then it rained while I was about an hour's hike up the hill, got good and muddied. There was your Benicia place, and last week we were in Sacto for mothersday so dropped by the Vic Fazio wildlife area in West Sacto., weather was 90+ degrees hot, saw a few distant ducks, a blue heron, egrets, a couple of hunting hawks, and a large nest probably occupied by that blue heron...but all a mile away! This weekend is booked with children stuff so I'm confined to the Berkeley Aquatic park and maybe the Albany bay area...if I'm lucky, the best I can do is post a backyard bird this week!
For this shot, I opened the window of my blind. The others were shot through double pane glass.
Except for a few squirrels, I haven't got the critters habituated to me. The bluejays especially are very wary - they were watching me the the whole time.

Back at the beach stalking these guys, a little too dark outside but I tried...
And then somebody had to drive by before I got close enough.... and I get this. (Panning at 1/160, I'm out of control! )
Hey pingflood, how long have you been using the 400mm now? The reason I ask is, it seems like you're really having fun with it. I remember when I first got mine, it was like christmas and my birthday rolled into one! Haha!
