Many raptors in the bay area, just got to be patient and find them:

Redtail Hawk, usually on top of telephone poles.

Turkey Vulture...not a raptor, more of a scavenger but they're everywhere.

...and even a bald eagle in the San Pablo reservoir area if you are lucky but they are very stealth, this one was miles up in the sky.

Many Raptors in NJ, too, common species are the Mafianis NewJersonas.

I just bought the lens, its Sharpness is absolutely fabulous without the weight of the 400mm 2.8L IS, for me and my shaky hands it can be a challenge to handhold and still frame a shot with all the movement going on, but I use it most with a tripod.

I believe these are called Mourning Doves... correct me if I am wrong

Hand held wit the the 400.... I am really starting to see the ability this lens has
