Nice shot, Petkal. Looks like a little front-focused but may just be my monitor.

Wing Tong Hawk (sub-species: Frontus-focusus teenie-tinyus) very rare in these parts!

@ Peter again: ok maybe is me, but the pics from this 1D are not very sharp. After a few hundred shot I can tell my 50D gets better pictures. I think I have a dud!

Here's a shot of that elusive Dwarf Hawk I captured back in the 60's when I was a young lad licking lsd stamps, the whole 60's were one big stamp-sized microcosm of a birds life!

Before you kids turn this thread into a sort of a dating service, someone better pull it back to 400 f/5.6 photography.

The terns are back in small numbers. Hopefully withing a week or so they'll be ripe for picking. One of my favourite BIF targets, especially the Common Tern.

No terns here

I like this image

Conrad, Noelle may have a point there.
Check the camera image quality settings again....sharpness, etc. I think we had that discussion before. Other than that, see if the camera focuses right.

For JPGs to be nice and crisp outta camera, you got to crank the camera sharpness setting high and keep the contrast moderate.

I KNEW IT! I wasn't crazy. I asked the guy why he was letting it (the 1DmkIIn) go for so cheap and he said it wasn't as sharp as his 1D! He wanted to see if I was getting the same results as he was so in a way he was using ME as a guinny pig! Haha! Well no harm done, he's on his way to pick it up and give me back my 85mm f1.2 now.

Conrad, trust me on this.......the 1DMkIIN is plenty "sharp" if you can make it so through.....
(1) shooting technique
(2) lens quality
(3) camera settings and image processing.

I could show you thousands of examples for "sharp". However, I 've just come accross this image taken with the 200 f/1.8 wide open. This is 100% crop.
Sharp enough for me. More importantly though, I like the bokeh that 1DMkIIN generates.

Thats a nice lookin squirrel Peter. Got some great bokeh happening as well. The guy came by and picked up his 1dmkiin just now, apologized for wasting my time. I told him it was ok, I enjoyed shooting with it. He said that he believes it really needs to be caliberated and he should have done so before putting it up on craigslist. He was a nice guy. The wait for a better cam continues....

cute little guy!!

I agree my MKII has taken some practice along with my 400mm. I am still not 100% where I want to be but I am learning.
