Well, if that thread is to be believed, then that puts an end to all this wishful speculation about features & release dates. It also means that - barring a move to Nikon - the 1DIII issues will have to be persevered with ...
I'm guessing with the 1D IV running an improved version of digic IV or maybe even digic V, that the 1D III could stay 1.3x crop, and move to 15-16MP - which is still much lower pixel density than the 50D - and offer noise as good as the 1D III at the pixel level, and thus have an advantage in prints or downsizing to 1D III res. With current dual digic IV it could do 10fps @ 15MP. I'd bet they could do 12fps with the extra time they've had to refine digic IV since it was released. Will the AF be able to handle that or will they not try their luck and stick to 10 fps?

This rumor is not true, it's just a rumor. Enjoy your 5D2!
I intend to! I hemmed and hawed about buying one. Saw them in stock 3 times at B&H, and didn't jump. Finally, I jumped today. Should be here by Friday. I really had to weight the advantages vs. my present 5D. In the end, the pixel density and high-ISO shooting really got my attention. The video will probably grow on me, but it wasn't a major deciding factor.
FWIW, I have the 5D (which I like a lot) & intend to get the 5DII when I get back to the US in 6 or so months time. Which is another way of admitting some envy ...
Chucky boy says a new 100-400 is coming and they are working on an f/4 version.
There's not a snowballs chance in hell Canon would let slip a new 1D IV is coming, think what that would do to 1D III sales. I still expect something for September to be announced.

Chuck is a long way from Copenhagen. All of Canon's european sales & distribution is run from Amstelveen in The Netherlands. I'm not saying they don't talk to each other so I would expect that there will be news of an announcement on the same day somewhere in the US.
Don't you think that the 1DIII sales are already in the toilet? My guess is that the latest AF fix may be to convince everyone that the 1DIII is now a safe bet to mop up all the excess stock before the MkIV comes out.
