I think you're right, but I don't think the launche will be in spring.
the mark3 is selling good and now after the new recall the confidence is comming back
by the public.

I fear you may be correct. I'm betting Canon, in a daft effort to protect its high end FF sales, keeps the 1.3 crop. That'd be too bad. They'll finally force me to Nikon/Sony or I'll continue to buy used "last year's model" Canon DSLRs until Canon gets its act together or I become completely fed up (and I'm getting closer and closer to my fed up point - the only thing keeping me in the Canon camp are a few lenses that Nikon/Sony don't offer). I'm tired of waiting for Canon to introduce a reasonably fast (6-8+ fps) FF with reasonable resolution (12-16+ MPs) and working AF.
If we're wrong and Canon introduces a FF, fast shooting 16 MP, I'll buy one the minute it becomes available (yep, even if it means being an early adopting Canon "beta tester"). If it's a fast shooting 16 MP 1.3 crop, I'll pass (again). Canon's running out of time if it want to keep me as a customer.

Actually, my confidence in the both MK3s has dropped a lot since I heard Canon is still trying to figure things out a few years later with this new update. I thought the blue dot 1D3 and at the very least, the 1Ds3 was beyond these issues by now. They are both superb cameras before this update. I know that. But it's obvious that Canon knew of some problems under certain circumstances where these cameras were still not up to what they would want.

16mp, FF, 5DII or better ISO performance, all in a pro body with speed, great AF and dual memory card slots... I only had an XTi 6 months ago and was pretty happy (5DII and 40D now), but THAT 1DIV combination would convince me to move to a pro body. 1.3x would be a deal breaker.

My problem with that is who'd buy the 1Ds III if they offered this in a 1D IV. 4-5MP is not much improvement in res and the 1D IV would trounce it in every other area. Also why would they sell it at much less than 1Ds III prices?

Me too - on both counts. I hope Canon understands the pent up demand for that type of DSLR.

teh 1D3 was 'beta' tested. That's what the canon explorer of light folks do. they also are the ones that create the images used in canon's campaigns.
I was in a PPA school class with Michele Celentano as the instructor when the 1D3 was new new, and was there when she called canon to tell them the camera got knocked over (on a tripod) at a wedding and was, well, broken. Canon seemed to take it well. At the time there were only 3 1D3's in the US.
