HAHAHAHA this is sad but most likely true...
I'd complain if a bad one....
Start to put mine through its paces after work.
Liking mine so far with the quick test shots I have taken. Can't wait for big screen on the puter later. Me, I like the build. Not the tankish feel of the F2...but that is going to be the trend I think with the new glass. Even the 50mm G has almost the same build. Would bet a donut the next prime redo going to follow suit. Not the toy-like feel of the 18-55 kit (still a good lens, but definately ain't the build of my expensive glass like the 12-24) for sure though. I won't complain too much, unlike the last prime redo's, this went down in price. Wallet is liking that I ain't gonna lie.

for $200, this lens looks like a steal... I wonder what the price would be if Nikon hadn't increased the prices due to the global market...
probably $180. If im not mistaken, most stuff increased by about 10%. Im just gonna patiently wait for a used one to hit the BS forum. I'd love to pick up this little guy for $150.
I think they are sucking the price difference and the exchange rate up with this lens because it retails for $350 here in Japan, but is selling for closer to $270.
I'm going to put mine up on the buy and sell .... for $240. ( no not really - but $150 .... poor sod who would sell for that while they are so hot and hard to get)
Im glad everyone loves them when they finally come out. There was tons of criticism about this lens. I am excited to see all the excitement for such a little lens. Kinda reminds me of the 50 1.8's value at being at $100. Cheap but very awesome.
That lens is gorgeous on the D700. If it weren't for the vignetting, it looks like it compares favorably with the 35L, which is one helluva feat considering its price tag.

If it weren't for the vignetting I'd take this over the 35L. It's as sharp wide open, sealed, smaller and lighter with a smaller filter size and most importantly $200! Nikon obviously hasn't forgotten how to make some nice primes, so lets see some more wide lenses! I'd dig a $200 24/2 DX if it covers as much of the frame as this does!
I shot in a several hour sustained downpour with my D700 and only the 35 DX on my camera. I made no attempts to keep the water off of anything. Guess what is still working like a champ? No filters, nothing. It is freaking great!
