Thanks, TWo Khan, for testing - bokeh is magnificent. The 17-55/2.8 brought me (back) to Nikon, but this 35/1.8 is going to keep me in the DX format. There's commitment from a Canon FF junkie!
For reasons that I cannot understand, NONE of the images opened for me. They all have a copyright.
I really wanted to see those pictures.

thanks for the review and the pictures , man DX has so much more DOF at a given aperture it really shows here
Excellent point.
Why did the D70s shots look washed out. It looked as though the OP used Capture NX or NX2 for the Raw processing on the D700 but did something different on the D70s.
I just did minor editing: resize, sharpen, and border in CS2. All were out of camera JPGs.
I just went out shooting today with my friend who picked up the first copy. He's only had his D70s for a few days and it is his first SLR. I think he really took some great shots. All of them are on his flickr and all were taken with the D70s and the 35/1.8G DX. http://www.flickr.com/photos/31732618@N07/
These are full frame shots with a dx lens, I don't get it? If this is DX than my 70-200 is also a dx lens because there is more light fall-of on that than this lens. wtf
How much vignetting is there on a D700 at infinity focus and wide open though? Looks like the shot of McDonalds was close to infinity, but I'm not sure.
