Yowza. Normally I try not to price police, BUT, Amazon has an excellent return policy (they pay return shipping, free shipping to you, no restocking fee, 30 days) and they want $200 less for the lens new (with a warranty!)
You would have to be loopy in the head to buy this.

Yep, this one is destined for the museum. Must be one of a kind.
Guys, I am telling you this lens is special, "collector's item". Canon probably inadvertently placed some "Zeiss" elements in this lens during production. You willl not find another one anywhere like this, whether Amazon or B&H. And it doesn't matter how many times you send it back to Canon for calibration, it will not be the same as this lens. Who knows it will be worth more years from today. I'll be all over this if I were a Canon "collector".
Kidding aside. I wouldn't mind paying a little bit more if the lens is sharp as descrbed but I am not a Canon user. Good luck with the sale.

looks like my FS thread is being overloaded with nonsensical comments and harassments, as a result all these attacks have been reported to moderator.
Please feel free to PM me with sales related questions and I'll try my best to answer them. I highly prefer local buyer at this point....
I'm local to you, found myself thinking of getting one of these after this weekend. But NEW used, I would only offer at most $1150, that 20% off of B&H and amazons NEW price, for me shipped free from both.
Your message here has started a thread over on the Canon Forum, I doubt you'll ever sell it here. The one's here know the value of what ever is put on this board. Most would tell you in person what they've posted here.
My 100-400L is pretty sure you just called him "soft" and, well, he's really kinda ticked about it. So much so in fact, that he said he'd like to meet you on the playground at lunch and throw down. I knew I needed to get away from this thread, but it just keeps sucking me back in.
If a moderator reviewing this thread does anything other than laugh his backside off, I'll be really disappointed...
Dudes... this is brutal. As much as I disagree with the claim, knowing that it is impossible to prove, I say give the guy a break. If he wants to sell it for whatever price he wants let him. Doesn't mean that anyone will buy it but maybe someone with extra cash to burn and no time to test copies of lenses will. Price policing is uncool no matter what the title of the thread is. To the OP... I'd change the title of your thread. I think that's what's causing the problem here. Peace.

Yaoyee,
As my username implies, I am an "L collector" and I work for Sotheby's in England. I work for the Queen. Her Majesty herself noticed this outrageous post while she was surfing the net earlier today and asked me to invite thou for a royal dinner with the Queen. She has also extended this invitation to any other people who own these "world sharpest" lenses to tag along. Needless to say, return tickets from W. DC will be provided in advance.
It does not end here....Sotheby's will take the full ownership of auctioning this fine piece of equipment on the seller's behalf. No need to walk around the streets of Washington DC with such a "worlds class" lens. ...Show more →

I feel that my lens can live up to the claim, that's why I welcome any local buyer to bring another 100-400L(preferably the sharpest you can find) to do side by side comparison with mine, that's the beauty of doing transaction in person locally, you can try before you buy, and there is absolutely no pressure whatsoever. Title and price will stay where they're at, if I'm violating the B&S and forum rule please let me know and I'll make any adjustment as necessary. thanks for the support.

+1
I saw the OP's thread early on but decided not to post anything until now.

I'm supporting your right to price things however you want. Price policing is not cool. That said, I am not in support of your claim of "Worlds sharpest". Unless you have proof of that and have tested it against all the world's 100-400L's it's a ludicrous assumption.
It's funny to see how many people get worked up by this, but I'll change "World sharpest" to "One of the Sharpest" in the title if that make some of you feel better.
