That's a dealbreaker for me , I wanted "The Sharpest" lens..not "one of the". Dang, my search will continue....there has to be a world's sharpest lens somewhere....
Thx for all the laughs, OP, back to life !
Guys, give credit where credit is due. I think Yauyi has been fortright in his presentation and he explained the rationale for the price rather well and with conviction. Also, he gives plenty of supporting material for you to judge.
What I'd find much more objectionable would be if he were to ask $100 less than the new price for some multiple-owner lens of questionable quality which he had got only 2-3 weeks before, and no images taken with the lens posted. However, many seem to go for those sort of "deals" happily.
You know I was thinking of driving out to Manhattan when I return from my vacation with the family to buy one of these but this is such a good deal that maybe I'll get this one instead.
After all, this is the sharpest lens I've ever seen too.
What I do not understand is why any comment on a price is usually immediately attacked in most of the FS posts but price policing is tolerated and even encouraged here.
I am learning a new lesson about double standard on this forum.

I haven't really seen to many here actually say his price is to high outright. But I wonder how many people would be howling if one of the online stores upped their price by $200? I think if I were to do this I would have just listed it on Ebay people don't mind spending inflated prices their.
But I see his point if you want a good quality lens that is proven I guess some don't mind paying for what you get
Don't you realize that you are not speaking to the " Great Unwashed", but to an elite group of educated photographers But I do admire the firm tone you elicit.

+1
I posted here sometime back, that this is clearly price-policing and harassment (after all, he's paying to use Buy & Sell, and can ask for whatever price he sees fit, and to make any claim he wants - however ridiculous it may sound to others. And the usual members who sometimes attack the price police are attacking and harassing him here. That post was mysteriously deleted, yet all the posts that are "attacking" the OP are given free pass. Strange! I expect this post of mine will also mysteriously disappear.
I'm not sure if it's the "world's sharpest" or even "one of the sharpest," but this
thread sure is a classic! Good luck with the sale though, seriously
Having bought and sold here previously, I would be pretty unhappy if this respons was posted on one of my threads. Let's leave him alone, it's enough abuse... free bump, Yauri.
I agree that the harassment is uncalled for, however I'm wondering where you draw the line ... any line. Do we want our B&S filled with outrageous threads?
I could go list my 20D for $10,000 right now. And my 10-22 for $15,000. Where do we draw the line? I don't think its right to harass, but I don't think its out of line for the mods to keep posts reasonable. I do not mean that this post has an outrageous price (maybe claims, but not the price). Sorry, I'm just thinking out loud here.
Some of those attacks and harassments were out of line in the B&S section IMO, which I think a selected few harsh posts have already been removed either by the poster, or by moderators, and I appreciated it, but I have to admit....it was hella funny. I'm not mad or anything, just kinda surprised and overwhelmed by so many people getting their pants wet over a proven lens that I'm trying to sell for $100 more than retail. I now know it is generally unacceptable by most forum members here to see such unusual sales.
As someone else mentioned earlier, i might have better luck to sell it on ebay and the like, probably true. But I thought photographers or gear heads here may appreciate such quality lens more so than the regular joe on ebay, I guess I was wrong, actually i now know I'm dead wrong. The consensus I'm getting is... most (noticed I said most, not all) people here just wanted to get used gears for cheap, it's a sin to sell used gears slightly higher than retail price, and if it is good then the seller wouldn't of sell it, therefore any claim on superiority of such equipment "must be" false. Ironically, some of these same folks more than willing to whip out few hundred if not thousand more on newly introduced and unknown gear so they can have the latest and greatest instead of wait out for the price to drop and settle, it's funny how people weight in their justification sometime...
For me to claim I have one of the sharpest lens on earth may sound funny and ridiculous, but after 4000 hits in less than 24hr I have yet to see any potential buyer willing to test it out in person so you can validate my claim. Maybe it would have been more believable if I were to jacked up the price two-fold!?
I will be more careful on wording the title next time, perhaps I should have stated "World softest" or "World suckest" lens on earth that I can't wait to unload for cheap, that ought to get some positive feedbacks and major kudos after I displayed the actual results of the lens, I think that would have yield an amazing wow factor. As a matter of fact, I'm thinking about switching to full frame so I would have to put my crop lens up for sale soon, I think it will be title the "World suckest lens on earth" fo shure, keep an eye out in couple months for some "horribly" soft results produced by this bread-loser lens that I used to won 5 contracts from local schools recently...

well...if B&H, amazon, canoga etc were not offereing free returns and exchanges for ANY issues..then you'll probably have a successful sale, however the retailers in fact due offer the option to exchange, so why should we not buy it retail and exchange to our hearts content AND have full warranty to boot with it

And exactly what, and who, is stopping you from buying from Amazon, BH, and wherever else you can get a better and cheaper deal from?
There is another 100-400L is still up for sale by someone else, it is "Barely 90 days old!" and "never used", only going for $1250....that's a kick ass deal! I suggest those who need a lens in this range jump all over that one, it's dirt cheap in comparison to mine.
i was just offering you some feedback why photographers may not have chosen to pick it up...but since you are going down the path of being an a55 lets just end this joke of a sale thread here.
