I've never run windows on any of my macs. Can you even buy Windows XP now?
Why does it have to be so difficult!!!!
As a Mac user, I also went the VM Ware and Windows XP route when I wanted to get a Minolta Dimage 35mm film/neg scanner working. Be careful with XP 'upgrades' out there as I've found them to be virus-carriers! I bought a clean copy of XP before that.
...more on-topic, I would have liked to buy a Pakon but shipping costs from the USA to Australia are prohibiitive.
Kodak Portra 160 (my first time shooting this wonderful film - such a shame it's hard to get / discontinued) on a Contax N1 and 24-85 zoom, all from April 2013.
a
Commercial 72dpi jpeg small scans, then saved as TIfs by me and finally exported again with signature/date from LR.

Yes, that's a great film. I shot my first roll of Portra 160 and long for some more. It's not discontinued, but Kodak seems to not be able to supply the AsPac region very well. It's very hard to find this year, at least in 120 size.

Wait, that's 35mm film? For some reason I read your post as coming from a Contax 645, not N1. Wow, the sharpness of that camera with this film is amazing. Might be the best 35mm scans I've ever seen.
Thanks RM. I let LR do some more sharpening for the web, but the original scans were also sharp. It's a known stellar lens. The N1 camera feels so beautifully crafted and solid like most Contaxes. It's quite cheap these days; less than an RTS for example and gives AF too with easy manual override.
I must put mine into use again but I shoot more medium format film these days - love the large negatives!
Tom, didn't realize FB was banned. Check out that group when you get back to the states. Great resource to getting one setup and for buying one. Getting harder to procure but one pops up for sale every few days or so.
BTW, I even went to the trouble of requesting, and receiving membership of that Flickr FB group however with a neg scanner already and a V700 for medium-format I cannot justify the cost of shipping a Pakon to Australia, especially as the secret's out and so many are realising what they can do.
here's another couple Portra 160 (35mm!) of scans - TIF-copies of the orig commercial scans - no PP applied.
