I suspect that you just may have just slightly missed focus on the f1.2 shot. Or, did you focus bracket 4-5 shots just to make sure?

I suspect so too actually, it seems to focus a bit in front of the books, I could do a focus bracket later today to be more certain!

yes, it looks like the focus on the 1.2 is too soft, especially compared to the shots you did before

Your Rokkor is exceptionally sharp at f/1.2. Mine is that sharp at distances of 4 feet and further, but up close, it has quite a bit of coma that reduces resolution a fair amount (though still acceptable). At f/2, mine is significantly sharper up close (and really it doesn't improve much from f/2, because it's at such a high level.), though the improvement at medium distances isn't as drastic since it performs so well further away.

Yes, Ulrik, your copy appears to perform as well (at least) as my old radioactive copy (the one that I found exceptional compared to 10 others).

ulrikft, What's the serial number on yours? There has been some discussion about the earlier production with radioactive element and later ones. It seems that the older 200xx....serial number with scalloped metal focusing ring are sharper. I suspect your is from the earlier run too. Mine is also 200xx.... Its currently glued on my camera.

Oh the mighty sharpness test which I rarely do anymore
This is how mine resolves in the center, focus on letter "E", DOF is extremely shallow on f1.2 shot, letters "C" and "p" already OOF.

f1.2

I like the Minolta D57KB. Looks and works great on my 58/1.2.

Like this? [Shot by Anders, I'm just helping show it in the post]

Basically if you know the location of the file on your host, just put the URL of the image into your post, eg: h**p://www. ... boek.jpg
