I was just perusing the list of 2023 rumors about the R1, it’s comical. So far, if the current specs are anywhere near accurate, no one has come close to predicting what that camera will look like. If the latest rumor is at all accurate, I’ll pick up another R5C and quit obsessing about what comes next. I made that mistake with the 1DXIII. Wanted it, got it, never used it and sold it a year later. Great camera, probably the fastest and most accurate AF system Canon ever released, I just have no need for a camera with a 24 MP sensor, or in the case of the R1, 30MP.
Canon does need to up their AF precision though. I took James to a wildlife refuge yesterday afternoon and shot the 100-500/RF600 F4 and experienced the typical frustration with AF tracking capture and accuracy. More frustrating with the 600 because it’s more difficult to get your subject in the frame and lock on due to the narrow field of vision. When it hits, it’s dead on, but the hunting drives me nuts.

I know what you mean about the hunting Jim, my R5 did it first time out the box on that KC-135.
Had me worried. Will be using it again this weekend, should shine I hope.

Don't get discouraged Bill, it's a great camera, but occasionally it has a mind of it's own and you feel like you have never shot it before, really ticks you off!
I hear ya Jim...The 600 has got some reach on it and produces beautifully.
Heading to the Wildlife Refuge Sunday for a day of shooting.
New R5 and a new to me EF 500mm F4/L IS, got some eagles picked out hopefully
Heading out for a week of oil field imaging. My fraccing client just secured $10M in new work for February and they want it all documented in still and video. "Drill Baby, Drill!"
I just read that, for the third year in a row, Canon has secured the top slot in mirrorless camera sales worldwide. Guess that's why they aren't in a hurry to release anything new............
Here are a couple more attempts at panning/night photography from MIA last week.
It's fun to try something different, LOTS of "delete" images........you can't get exactly where I was last Friday and pull out a tripod, that's frowned upon.
