They are that Erich. JR and I have scuba 'd there a half dozen times, but not since the Manatee population has exploded. The friend that Sheila went to abomination with wants me to come back and shoot a bunch of Bimini stock for prints for her home. That will probably be my shake down cruise for the 5DSR underwater system. I'd like to do some cool shots of her yacht st dusk from underneath because it's got blue led lights under the hull, could be pretty interesting . Probably go out from the north island and shoot the Rays and the sharks too.
Cool, I didn't know you were a diver too. By far my best ever diving trip was to the Maldive islands. You could swim out a hundred yards from shore and just hang out along the drop off wall. I wish I had taken a camera back then. I loved just going down 40 feet or so and watch a single spot for a while. It was amazing how much life there is amongst the rock and coral.
I'll bet that was incredible. I've been certified since high school. We used to ice dive in the quarries around Illinois and Indiana. Tie a rope to your bumper and saw a hole in the ice, I'm thinking that I'm out on that now Although, I might do it in the Antarctic or somewhere that you could see some really cool things.
I've been talking with Ikelite and Nauticam over the past few days. Seems to be a huge disparity in prices and I'm trying to determine why. I've used Ikelite products over the years and they've always been great. The current Ikelite 5DSR outfit, including the dome for a 16-35 III Canon lens is just a little over two grand. A comparable Nauticam outfit is $5,500. I don't mind spending the bucks, just rating to figure out the best product. I'm thinking you buy one of these for life, or until the camera body changes so drastically it no longer functions, so It doesn't spook me to invest in the Nauticam if that's the best choice. Guess I need to go talk with a serious U/W shooter and get their impressions. Experience tells me that the difference has to represent some substantial improvement in quality/features/ergonomics, but I haven't found that yet.

A long day of shooting out of town, followed by an evening with an old friend............. Unlike some, JT's voice is still as sweet as ever. Once again, he amazes, he's one of the kindest individuals I have ever met.
Great Music Jim just googled the Man couldn't remember if I heard his music before but I did .

If I were the Load Master on this thing I'd be having kittens.
The pilot was one from Reparto Sperimentale, right? Along the years, first with the G-222 and now with the C-27, they keep delivering amazing performances
You would know a lot of JT's music I'll bet, he's wonderful, and a super nice guy to boot. Every one of his concerts, that I've attended, the rest of the crew heads for wherever, and James comes back out and signs stuff and takes selfies until they turn the lights out. Last night's attendance was probably 10,000+ and he handled it the way he always does. He's a guy who hasn't forgotten his roots, and that he loves what he does, a real rarity. BTW, he's my age, and he has no intention of retiring, for the same reasons I am not inclined to, the numbers are considerably larger though....... He invited us to Houston, but no can do.

Absolutely, like sitting on the edge of a motorway but much more colourful!! Here's one from the Maldives
I had mixed emotions about the money I spent on the little Olympus T5, but not anymore. This little video of Gracie and me on the Silver River was shot entirely on the Olympus, except for Gracie's Rebel stills. Once one figures a few quirks out, it's a great camera!

Great shot Niall ,
What did you capture that with? I spoke with Stephen Frink yesterday, he represents a pretty cool line of U/W camera housings. 8 grand for a 5DSR set up is getting pretty pricey for a lark though
