Looks like we were in more or less the same place at the same time. My ship spent most of 1976 in sub base which is right across the channel from the Arizona memorial. Actually had been there in 1973 as well.
Thank you for your service Rob! Takes a special type of person to climb into a metal tube and do that work! I was on a shoot close to Groton CT years ago and my client wanted to tour the sub base there, so we went. I had to take a deep breath going down the stairs into the sub that have there..........and was welded to the dock!!
Oh love to ride in that bi-plane! Fresh air in the face, the roar of a fine engine..able to see and photograph...
Does he take riders?
Well done Jim!

Nothing like flying an open cockpit Bipe, miss mine. They are hot rods and there comes a time when you realize that certain ships have sailed in one's life and it's wise not to push the envelope. I sold mine because I came to grips with the reality that I'd never have the time to rebuild it, but at 74, even if they would insure me, it would be time to hang up the high performance biplane wings. The experience of building it and flying it hundreds of hours was incredible and the memories remain. Chandler would love for me to buy another Texan, but I apply the same caution there, I flew the T-6 250 hours and lived to tell about it, discretion is the better part of valor as they say.
