Amazing captures. Is that a new Toy ( Z9)
Thank you! Kind of new toy. I am intrigued by the Nikon 600 with the built-in TC, such a GREAT feature (at a price!). This lens is the only Nikon thing I am tempted by. Since I bought the Sony 600 f4 GM 2 years ago, I have enjoyed using it with the 1.4X TC for certain parts of airshows to get closeup shots. But at 840mm the jets can over fill the frame in a mini second. I was thinking that the instant change from 840mm back to 600mm of the Nikon would alleviate the problem. No airshows to try this feature yet. But the cost for the convenience of the built-in TC is just too high. If I sell my Sony 600 GM and one of my A1s, I am out $6000 for the Nikon 600 TC + the Z9. And I will need to buy another Sony camera (perhaps the A7RV for $3000) because I always travel with 2 bodies. With the size and weight of the Z9, there is no way in hxll I would even bring it for travel.
With the recent FW update, the Z9's AF is as capable as the Sony A1 now, I shot both side by side. But I have been shooting the A1 for so long that the A1's operation is like second nature to me. It's a big learning curve to learn how to use the Z9 and I am too old/lazy to learn a new trick. I am not keeping both. Most like I will sell the Nikon setup, too expensive just for the built-in TC feature.

Happy Thanksgiving to you all...
and thanks again Jim for starting this thread decades ago...Love and appreciate you all and this forum, like a second home to me.
That shot of the Cirrius Vision jet wanted me to comment on it.
I've never had the opportunity yet, to photograph one for sale, but I've sat in a few during the NBAA Conventions and although it is a SMALL jet, I was quite impressed by the roominess of the cabin.
Don't know I'd want to fly in it for a long period of time, but it seems pretty comfortable for about an hour or two.
Thanks Jay-
Yes...Very small and neat jet, what ya want for a few million...Plus you get a parachute as well.
They seem to get around pretty good. Not sure how economical or maintenance wise they are but might be pretty good. Have a black one in here once in a while as well along with a Honda jet.

Thank you Bill! You are a charter member Bud! Gobble/Gobble!
Those of you who have been with us for a while know that this is the season for my four day bludgeoning, known in polite company as "Christmas Decorating". The boys helped me bring all the tubs down last night after our Wednesday Thanksgiving dinner (don't ask) Now all I have to do is turn the house into a winter wonderland and then I'm good til December 31st when Sheila looks at me and says, "I'm sick of all of this......" Packing up is somewhat easier than getting it all set up and styled, but it's still exhausting. All the aches and pains will vanish when JIII shows up tomorrow with that gleam in his eye, if it wasn't for him, Sheila and I would be singing Jimmy Buffett tunes and worrying "if the tide is going to reach our chairs".
Two things about tonight. I shot in a stadium with older lights, plus they light the area between the goal line and the 40 yard line on each end. The area between the 40 yard lines is moderately lit, very strange. The first thing is I realized how old my 7D II is. Looking in the view finder, it is very dark compared to my R6. Since I knew I would be in a low light stadium, I put the 300 on the R6 and the 70-200 on the 7D II. Second, I am glad I didn't sell my 300 2.8 II. Tonight it was great. I hand hold it on the sidelines. I am seriously considering getting the 1.4 extender to put on it for field sports. I will go with the f/4.0.
300 handheld from the sideline, I think he was watching to see if I caught the action...
