One thing that I do not get nostalgic over, the darkroom................. Or killing time in the middle of the night while the lab ran test strips on my medium format and 4x5 transparency film. Oh yeah, and keeping my film in coolers all summer . So many things that I do not miss.
It would have been interesting to see what the Bardahl Special would have really been capable of. Back in May the owner decided to take the stock P-51 and reconfigure it to win the last Reno. Both of the race Merlins from Voodoo would be rebuilt at Vintage V-12's, Voodoo's tail, engine, prop, a carbon fiber copy of the scoop and doghouse from Voodoo, instrument panel from Voodoo, a brand new custom carbon fiber intake trunk, and the heat exchanger from Strega. They qualified at 469mph using only 100 inches of manifold pressure, that engine was more than capable of 140 inches. Sadly with the T-6 mid-air we never got to see it at full song.
All of the parts that belong to Voodoo will eventually go back, and another attempt at the 3K record will be made.

Beautiful Set Tim, for sure it would have been interesting to see what it was capable off.
I have to say I was outside the field when Miss America flew, that engine also sounded beautiful and looked fast from my perspective.
No luck with the rest of my photo's so that's that.
Hopefully Tim shares some more as he is a very capable photographer aviation and automotive racing wise.
I've been following him for a long time.
Also did quite a lot with my phone but i still have to retrieve that.

Miss America was held back by a pilot who can't fly the way you need to, to win, a crew not nearly as good as Bardahl, and a engine builder who builds his race Merlins in a different way, they can't make the manifold pressure that the Vintage V-12's race engines can.
I've had a love affair with the B52 for a LONG time, but hadn't been up close to one in several years. I enjoyed seeing B52H 60-057 at a show not long ago. In talking to one of the crew, a LtCol, I commented that this plane was built four years before I was commissioned. He countered with, "It was built four years before I was born." Yikes!
And now, from an article on military.com: "The Air Force unveiled its latest bomber, the B-21 Raider, late last year. It's the first new bomber in the American military's fleet in more than 30 years and aims to eventually replace the B-2, as well as the B-1B Lancer sometime in the 2030s."

And when the new engines, that are being tested at the moment are ready then it will probably go on forever.
I photographed an F33 Bonanza for a gentleman a few years ago. He called me early last week to see if I would consider shooting his Ford XLT..........sure! Same spot, same light.................
Remember years ago when a neighbor called me to ask if I did dog portraiture? I kind of danced around the question not wanting to sound like a jerk, but finally I said something like, "my fee structure is probably a little high for that type of work........." or something semi-diplomatic. The lady then said, "I understand, we don't have any children, this Golden is our child, she has cancer and we really don't care what it cost to have a beautiful portrait of her to remember her by." Well, she had me at the cancer thing, so we picked a beautiful sunrise morning and captured "Callie" against a backdrop of verdant green grass and a pretty pond. She passed a few weeks later.
These folks live a few blocks from us and they wave whenever we pass each other. The lady was out walking yesterday and I waved at her, we ended up having a lengthy conversation about "Callie" and how much those shots have meant to them. They have a 40x60 framed in their living room. She mentioned that they are considering a couple of Golden pups and might like another session while they are little.
The point of this story is, one never knows where business will come from, or lead.

I "lived" with the B52 for 2 years of my/our military combat life. It was my/our savior on many occasions! Yes it has been around a long long time. The sound of them miles above the ground and the whistling of dropping their "load" was music to my/our ears and terror to the enemy! The ground trembled, the air smelled of "av fuel" and gunpowder and a moment of peace.......

Just sent off the defective Angelbird 512GB CF Express card. Their note says a new one should be in my hands in a week or so following receipt of the corrupt one. We'll see.
Went to Troy OHIO for the Waco fly in and took a ride too!
Have some RC Jet images to share as well, incredible flying and sweet to see up close. The ride up front in the Waco was thrilling!
Sharing a few images ......

Karl these are fantastic!!!!! Do you or anyone know if the make olde war birds into model planes that fly?
There is a property near me that the farmer allows people to fly there remote planes on weekends. I would love this!

I've been there several times on different assignments for Kettering Health in Ohio, it's a great little field. You sure did that fly in justice Karl, very nice work! JW
