Beautiful country Dan-
For almost seven years now and seems like every other year before that for years we have had fires and extreme heat very summer, so bad you don't want to go outside and do anything because of the heat or smoke, the smoke would even fill up the big shop we have and was hard to deal with sometimes. Escaping to the coast was a necessity every weekend till the fires in that area got bad as well. Have had three small fires within a half mile from our shop just in the last week.

Yes it is Bill And forest fires are a real problem there and anywhere.

It has been BRUTAL here! The smoke and smell from the Canadian wildfires have entered the jet stream and have been a real problem for months. The skies are pure yellow and the smoke hangs in the valleys in the morning and late evening.

Than add Mary-land's typical hazy, hot, very humid combined and we hibernate indoors. Sad!

WE have had very little rain in my area. Plenty of storms with lots of rain but the storms hit the Catoctin Mts right behind me and split to the Wash,DC, N.VA area and east to Baltimore. We are left with nada!

Stay safe brother. And again THANK YOU for everything!

Jan-Arie, your RIAT images are drop-dead stunning! Being so close, I guess you are a regular visitor there - lucky you. We were all a bit unlucky with the weather though. And it took me nearly 3 days to get home to Australia - and my suitcase is still stuck in Doha. Camera gear was with me of course, so no problems there.

Cheers,
Steve.

Thanks Steve, no idea how many time's i have been but it's more then ten times.
The weather was pants but luckily it improved a bit.

Wow three days to get back home, and a lost suitcase hopefully you get it back quickly.
Man the idea that you lose your equipment on a flight back home.

Cool set of photo's you have, if I have some more time I will look for some more keepers..

My good friend and Reno air racer Stew Dawson is flying that Connie. Stew is an interesting guy, flew for Southwest for years but cut his teeth on round engined freighters before that. He is an amazing stick.

p.895 #8 · Mustang Air to Air: The Sequel

Stew and Ben Morphew have been good friends for decades. They would come down to the hangar while I was building my biplane, they'd have some rare airplane that they had gotten a hold of and they would want me to go fly it. Ben had a beautiful Rearwin Cloudster that he'd purchased and he came down to see how I was doing on the bipe project. He taxied in with the Cloudster and said, "Wilson, you need to go fly this............". I was excited, as always, and said "Sure! Let's go Ben!" He laughed and said, "I'm not going....you're going......" I had never flown a Cloudster, but Ben assured me that "it'll be fine....". Both Ben and Stewart have always thought that everyone possessed their natural flying abilities. Not wanting to disappoint Ben, scared to death, Ben gave me a couple of pointers and I taxied out in what turned out to be the only airworthy Rearwin Cloudster in the world at the time. Ben was right, it was fine, flew like a dream and the fact that I pushed myself and went gave me a real shot in the arm, always loved Ben and Stewart.

About a month before the biplane was ready to fly Ben stopped in to check on me. He walked around it, looked at me and said, "Who is gonna fly it the first time?" I said "Me." Ben looked at me and said, "I understand, and you are sure plenty capable as far as that goes, but I'd be honored to fly it first for you and there is one big difference between you and me." He went on to say, "You have spent six years and countless thousands of hours creating this airplane, it's been your life. I expect it will fly perfect, but if it doesn't, or something goes wrong, all that you have put into it is going to cause you to figure out how to try to save it. The difference between you and me is, I'll stand up on the seat and pop the chute in the time you are trying to save it........." Ben flew 777JW the first time, rolled it, looped it, taxied back in to me all smiles. "Great airplane Wilson, it needs two washers underneath the rear left I strut fitting............go fly it!" One of the best days of my life, and you know what? Ben was right, the first time I flew it was still the first time I flew it...................

Someone tell me if I'm posting too many aircraft shots lately, or too many from RIAT. But I'm still so excited going through all the images and still buzzing after spending 6 days straight at RAF Fairford. What a trip!

Steve, this is the MA2A forum. No such word as "too many" brother! It is the "phoenix" of Fred's website. Lost for a time but resurrected by Fred and Jim and still goin' on....!

If you haven't seen it yet, Mike Patey put out a You Tube video yesterday, shortly after he suffered a catastrophic engine failure on the way to Oshkosh. He's fine, but his plane will probably going back home on a trailer.

Anyone know of a good, used low hour turbine for sale?
