If you haven't seen it yet, Mike Patey put out a You Tube video yesterday, shortly after he suffered a catastrophic engine failure on the way to Oshkosh. He's fine, but his plane will probably going back home on a trailer.
Anyone know of a good, used low hour turbine for sale?
Patey is using up those nine lives in a hurry.............
Any of you who were with us in the early days probably remember Jay Beckman. Jay has been a good friend, he is one of the finest photographic talents I have ever had the pleasure of knowing/shooting with. He came in for a number of AFW Air Shows and always hung with us at HQ for the before gathering. I mentioned a while back that Jay was diagnosed with brain cancer, metastacized from his lungs and, as you might imagine he's been on a very rough road ever since. You think that you know someone pretty well but I now realize that I didn't know Jay Beckman nearly as well as I thought I did. I've lost a lot of people in my 74 years, family, friends, clients, never, never have I seen a man face down a horrible disease with such courage, such a positive outlook, and such compassion for everyone around him.
Jay's latest post has him becoming a clinical trial of one, on some beyond experimental treatment regime. Again, he talks about this juncture like he was taking a walk in the park and popping Tic-Tacs, he's truly incredible. Kristy, his sweet wife is there, has been there for every up and down, she's as much of a testament to courageous living and the loyalty of a spouse as I have ever seen.
Perspective, certainly gives one perspective in a daily world wrought with inconsequential fluff and selfies. I have a little desktop sign that I found years ago, it sits on a shelf at HQ, "Be kind, everyone you meet is fighting a difficult battle...........", so true. Regardless of whether Jay and Kristy emerge victorious from this horrific battle, I will be forever grateful for Jay's friendship and for the example he has set forth when the going gets unimaginably tough. Please keep Jay and Kristy in your thoughts and prayers, and as Jay often reminds, "be good to each other".

I have never met Jay face to face but I have exchanged messages with him through out his battle with this awful disease. He has amazed me with how positive that he has remained through this ordeal. Jay is a fine man and I am glad to call him a friend even though I have never met him face to face. I keep telling him that when he beats this I am going to travel to photograph planes with him.

Indeed a great guy, that I can call a friend fortunate to have joined him at Alliance and at Jim''s Hangar.
Incredible photographer, and i have a big print hanging in my living room made by him in Grand canyon national park..
and they are always in my thoughts.
Jay's images are very inspirational and a testament to his creativity and prowess. I hope his treatment will return him to full health in short order. My thoughts are with Jay and Kristy.
I photographed this Challenger 604 on Sunday of this week, at Teterboro, NJ.
Could not believe I actually got lucky with a NICE background at such a busy airport. Added benefit, it was ONLY 88
degrees compared to the oven we call Texas!!
