Spent the afternoon helping her set up her new camera and tomorrow we're going kayaking on the Silver River to shoot nature stuff.............
Since the hook of MA2A has sunk in past the barb it was time to go back to page 1 and pick up a little cultural and image history. Quite a ride. Got to page 30 --- some images have dropped off which is disappointing but also would have meant slower progress .... decided to enroll for more ...
I did see an earlier Gracie headed for her first acrobatics runs --- you don't need a closeup to recognize the same sparkle behind the glasses on the Jet Ski. A lot of character and heritage on display there Mr. Wilson!
Mmmmmmmm, so I hear for the Friday and Saturday Blues performance at Osh they are moving the spectators back 120ft at 1:30. That ought to be a circus to stay away from. I have had my share of short tempered folks at Osh in the past, kinda glad I won't be there to witness this. Wonder if folks will have to repark there planes too.
Thanks Charles! She's a Sweetheart for sure! We spent five hours paddling around The Silver River today and had a wonderful time together. I brought my Olympus T65 because this adventure was all about Gracie breaking in her new camera. When photo ops arose I told her that I'd navigate the waterway and get her in position, all she had to do was compose and shoot. She was so excited about shooting together and having her new camera, it was a real treat for me.
We downloaded her images this evening and went through all of them in Photoshop. She got some very cool ones, but there were some that should have been in focus, based upon what I see, but they were soft. I did a focus check and the camera seems to be working fine so I went back to the manual and changed a couple of AF parameters. The focus seems to pop in a bit faster now, so we'll see if her hit ratio goes up tomorrow on our next adventure in Tampa. I had large JPEG set, now we are going with RAW just to make sure we're dealing with the highest quality file.
I think part of the problem could also be that she isn't always pressing the shutter button down halfway for a pre-focus. All in all she is happy with what she got today, just a little learning curve of the T6....for both of us. Analysis is a little tough of rme because obviously a couple of kit lenses, regardless of what a good value they are, will not perform like "L" glass, so I need to factor that into my scrutiny.
My little Oly T65 earned it's keep today documenting our outing, above and below the waterline. Pretty cool little camera of what it is.
Sheila is off to Bimini on the yacht tomorrow afternoon and I think she's going to have a wonderful trip with our close friend. I have to be honest and tell you that putting the person that means most to me in all the world on a "boat", no matter how luxurious, even of that relatively short trip, makes me a little nervous. I was invited, but shooting schedule and the fact that she needs a fun girls trip, persuaded me to let her have this adventure, I'll go next time. Apparently the trip is less than two hours on this sleek vessel and it's crewed by professionals, but still, that's a lot of water.
Your Olympus is doing a terrific job --- I loved my old OM-1 and am glad to see them making a strong presence again.
Looking forward to images of Tampa.
Your concern for your wife's trip is understandable --- more precious than Mel Fishers gold! I hope she has a safe and memorable trip ... you and Gracie too.

Must just be me - but I find that image amazing! If you look at the image on the back of the camera and compare the colour / tonality with the real thing they look identical.

Charles
Charles,
To really see how Mustang Air to Air evolved from a simple photo post, to what it has become, you have to start at the beginning. Not the beginning of this sequel thread, but the beginning of the original Mustang Air to Air thread, started in October 2006.
Unfortunately quite a few of the images (especially at the beginning) are no longer there, but the comments are. The original Mustang thread is where the "culture" of MA2A developed. Everything on this sequel thread is a result of the unexpected morphing of a photo post into a community.

Thank you for your post, and link which I will explore.
Over the past 7+ years I'd peek in from time to time to savor the images and bits of interaction here. Great stuff but as you said, it's the community that gradually has pulled me in.

Could it be a distress signal? ;-p
I asked a friend that, because it is a distress signal. The distress I thought was the Space Shuttle program was shut down (Endeavor was on it's way to be a static display in CA) and many jobs were going away. My friend, who works with the flight engineer, said he was confused when he put the flag up.
