I use my aviation photography ultimately to create aviation 'art', sold as wall art.
Some of my images posted here are straight out of Lightroom with only basic colour and tonal adjustments and I will continue to post those here in this topic in the future.
But there are others I create that take things a bit too far for the Mustang board, in my opinion, and out of respect for the board and the quality of the photography and photographers here, I feel they should be posted elsewhere.
So I have created an "Aviation Art" Topic in the 'Digital Art, Smartphones & Abstracts' Presentation Board and I will use that to post my images that stray too far from pure aviation photography.
This Raptor image, for example, has not only sky replacement, but motion blur and has been through several other effects programs, so it falls squarely into Digital Art. Although I like it, and others may too, for me, this type of image does not belong here (apart from illustrating the point I am making, obviously).

Jim,
Here in Maryland the state is going to an ALL "multi family" dwelling units. If you want a single family home, they charge an "excise" tax for that AND require more permits to do it.
Gosh we got to get out of here!

Dan, not sure if you heard it already, Columbia Mall now requires anyone under 18 to be accompanied by an adult to enter the mall, because some teenagers have caused so much trouble there. For those who are not familiar with Columbia, Maryland, it's been ranked the "safest city" in the US for the last several years, and our county, Howard, has one of the highest median incomes in the whole country, yet young people can't go to the mall by themselves because of the crime issues. Over Easter dinner my liberal daughter who lives in DC, said some of the stores in her neighborhood (a pretty expensive area) lock up even toothpaste because of thievery. I don't know what other developed countries have crime problem like ours. We are going down hill fast!

I was over there just a few weeks ago to get Suzanne a new Apple Macbook Pro laptop. Her old laptop has become "outdated" and Apple will not support many of the programs she has on it. I was not diligent in keeping up with the latest versions.
I did NOT see any warnings then Douglas.
I am not sure what the heck is happening to our Country. But I can see many of the factors that have influenced the death and destruction now taking place. And they didn't just start. And I don't like all the "finger pointing" as to whom is to blame. Let's FIX IT!!!!
Thanks!
Dan
Getting really bad here. You drive along the freeway and see tents and garbage all over and I guess that's ok now. Oregon use to be such a clean and pretty state. A couple in a new Tesla didn't want to be noticed in the Walmart parking lot yesterday so they drove to the side where the bark and plants are and opened the door right in the middle of the road and rolled and smoked their pot, with one door open. Thirty seconds later security came driving around and told them they couldn't be there in the middle of the road and had to move, they eventually drove off. Lowe's is next door and about as bad. They have all the sheds in the parking lot and the homeless have thrashed them while living in them and doing drug deals in them not to mention some of the sexual acts going on. Not to mention all the people living in their cars and beat up old motor homes living in culdesac's and at the ends of roads. On top of that, jumping the fence's and cutting off everyone's catalytic converters. It is getting really bad and has been since the last 3-4 years. Hate to say it but the teenagers are ruthless anymore and it seems like they have no respect at all, especially for the elderly. Theft is stupid crazy anymore and the stores don't do anything about it and don't care. Ya, it's getting really bad and it didn't just start either.
Sad...the United State Air Force is experiencing the results of going woke. How does a guy out of technical school in the Air National Guard get a Top Secret Clearance with access to classified documents. There are so many failures in this event, many generals should be fired, however, they will add more.

Ya, been reading that since it came out, very sad and very bad. Probably get his 21 year old hands slapped.
I wish we had a "disgusted" button, it would fit perfectly with your discussion. Certainly is heartbreaking but I don't think this genie is going back in the bottle, at least not peacefully. Big White House post this morning outlining how inflation is vanishing, gas is dropping, employment is "the best ever". I rolled into QT and noticed that gas has gone up .40 a gallon overnight. WHat's that old saying? "If you tell a lie often enough people will think it's the truth........" We have definitely been played by both parties, so where do we turn now?
Turning to happier subjects, my Westcott rig performed beautifully this morning, simple, beautiful light quality and not a cord in sight. The minute I got finished I went on line to Westcott's site and ordered an egg crate for the 36" beauty dish, I think it will help to more precisely direct the light where you want it in certain instances. All in all, very pleased with Westcott products. You know me, I was pulled toward Profoto when I began looking for battery powered strobes and I am sure that they are great, but one head and a battery is more that my four FJ400 heads/batteries/reflectors and grids. I've heard that Profit's service has gone downhill in the last few years too.
Anyway, look how clean and relatively inconspicuous this set up was.............The ThinkTank rolling case in the foreground holds one FJ200, four FJ400's/reflectors/batteries/colored gels/grids, charging cords and the transmitter unit for the camera.
Drip, drip, slowly but surely Canon is coming out with these outstanding optics. I know the minute I pop for my RF600/4 III they will announce the RF200-500/1.4. Truthfully, I don't think it could be much better than the RF100-500, just a little more convenient to flip a lever for the 1.4 converter.

Yeah, there's that! Truthfully, as great as that lens probably will be, I am so pleased with the quality and speed of the RF100-500 that I'm not tempted in the least. The RF600/4 III, now that is a different story. Even though it adds just 100mm to the game, the Bokeh at F4 and the increased AF speed, however slight that advantage is, are the factors that draw me back to that lens. The performance with the RF 1.4 converter is incredible at 840mm.
If I don't see Douglas' imagery for a bit I talk myself out of the 600 and then Bam, I'm all in.................
Yesterday was the first real world application with the Westcott lights, they worked great. I do want to do some technique tweaking, like the egg crate, and paying a little more attention to the exact positioning of the Beauty Dish and the resultant shadow on the subjects face. Yesterday's shoot was outside in pretty bright conditions so interpreting the shot on my camera monitor was challenging, even when I stepped into the shade to try to see it. I really needed the Camranger/iPad to be able to fine tune the lighting, but I hate having stuff dangling all over. All in all, I'm pleased, it just needs a bit of refining.
I'm headed to the "Oil Patch" next week to begin building real world working images and video for my fracking group. They are moving on to their first location in Plains Texas, not far from the New Mexico border, you know, about a mile from where "The Lord lost His sandals"........................ Looking forward to seeing what creative opportunities/challenges the real working site presents.

Jim, I haven't shot my 600mm F4 at 600mm for a long time, the 1.4TC is pretty much glued on it. The bokeh sure is nice!
I've been working with the 85/1.2 quite a bit, same thing, the look that it renders is just indescribable. Shot a little with the 50/1.2 a week ago, same thing. They are worth their weight in gold, and it's a good thing.............
Are things picking up at the dam? I saw on eBird that there were 45 bald eagles there on April 13, but only 6 were reported there yesterday.
I have to be in Middle River the morning of April 26. I'm thinking of flying down Sunday night, April 23, and spending Monday and Tuesday at the dam. Then flying home the evening of April 26.
Any thoughts on what to expect? I need to decide and book my travel this week.
One from the files year is 2007 aircraft dump near Davis Monthan 2007

Enjoy the Sunday
I was military training in S. Az- "Sorry" Vista(1967) and a few of us had a Sunday off so we went to the "plane graveyard". Of course no camera!
It is a great place for photographers!
Great capture J-A!!
