A client has tossed out a significant lighting challenge that has had me ruminating on possible ways to rise to the occasion. I spent lots of time in the wee hours last night and this morning researching continuous lighting equipment and only confused myself further. I've learned that the best remedy is to head down to Competitive and bounce my ideas off my Buddy Eugene Jabbour. Eugene, for a guy who has never shot commercially, is a treasure trove of information/facts/reliability stats, etc. JIII and I walked in and I asked Eugene what he would use to light the cavernous fuselages of Boeing 777's. He walked me over to this little unit and, after a little research, I think it's the perfect solution. I picked up four of them for starters, if they do what I believe they will, I'll need at least six more.
I had heard of this brand, but never really looked into it. They are quality built and have every feature that's important from color adjustment across the spectrum and consistency throughout the dimming function. The brand accepts all of my Westcott accessories which is a pretty big plus.
I think you're pretty good at that Douglas Panning skills are interesting, I have discovered that they vary from day to day and are dependent on all kinds of things, rest, caffeine, exercise. I can be dead on one day and all over the map the next. Some of my best panning images have been taken with my 600 and 800mm lenses handheld.
The weather looks pretty decent for Barksdale I'm hoping that my contacts are getting media credentials all sorted out, honestly I'm more than a little spoiled where that is concerned. Really, many times you can get better images being back with the general crowd, sometimes credentials get you in so tight that you can't get certain compositions. Every year I marvel at what good shooters get from the photo pit or the ramp at Alliance, great images that I was not able to capture.
Speaking of Alliance, haven't heard a peep about 2023, if I had to guess I'd say it has run it's course.
It's amazing how quickly they can swap those engines at Reno isn't it Jan Arie? Strega blew one the year I went and they were test flying it by dawn the next morning.

How far are you from Geneva Jan Arie? I have a Dreamliner that I may be shooting in that area. Would love to see you!
About 10 hours away by car weather and traffic permitted and about 1,5 hours by plane.
Let me know if you have a time frame !!, if i can have some time off maybe I can fly in it's not that expensive well cheaper than riding by car and If I have no other commitments.

Jim, I have never had the privilege of shooting from a media section. In 2021 the Naval Academy's campus was closed to the public for the annual Blue Angel show due to the Xi Virus mess. This picture was taken off the campus on a street. I have never seen an angle like this in all the BA shows I went. I will try shoot from that street again in May when the BA comes to Annapolis. But there is no guarantee they will approach from an angle like this this time.
