Newspaper announced the return of the Temple Air Show. It will be a one day affair on May 13. I miss the Friday night shows. The city kicked out the Georgetown crew and CAF in 2019 to take it over.
"Parker said guests can expect to see many native Texas performers at the air show, including Beth Jenkins and her B-25 Devil Dog, the RE/Max skydivers, the Liberty jump team, Stephen Covington’s Raptor, Karen Brinkley’s O-2A and Sam Bulgar’s SB2C Helldiver, just to name a few."

Jim, I have never had the privilege of shooting from a media section. In 2021 the Naval Academy's campus was closed to the public for the annual Blue Angel show due to the Xi Virus mess. This picture was taken off the campus on a street. I have never seen an angle like this in all the BA shows I went. I will try shoot from that street again in May when the BA comes to Annapolis. But there is no guarantee they will approach from an angle like this this time.
Douglas, you shoot better from the restaurant down the street than most people can with a media credential...............

Looks like another mid air collision at Falcon field in Arizona, but luckily no one died.
Dam near cut one plane in half.
Yes we had an incident here a few months ago. Bad weather confused the pilot and he crashed right into a high tension electrical tower and the plane stuck! Pilot and passanger were ok!
Pilot error was the cause.

The B-24 Lberator "Witchcraft" and the B-17 Flying Frotress "Nine-O-Nine".
P-51, "Betty Jane" is nearby.
Not up to the quality here but I enjoyed seeing 3 relics. And now I am one!

For any of you wondering about video post processing, I just put my latest MacBook Pro to it's toughest test so far. The video project is 4K and the length is 1:09, the MBP rendered it in just under 30 minutes, it's 35GB. My previous MBP, a 2018 version would have taken forever to chew on this video, and most likely would have choked in the process.

Good job Jim...Video's are HUGE files...HUGE, especially the 4-8K

Some Witchcraft for ya Mr. Dan-
I took the crew out for dinner Bill. What stories they had to tell!
I missed the best shooting time, about an hour later. The sun is setting and the last of the golden glow I lost!
But it was a fun day!

Well, asking for an opinion really. Canon has 5D MkIV's on a killer price for refurbished, $1499. That is less than the used market. I have a very solid selection of EF len's with L series zooms covering 16-35, 24-70, 70-200, and 100-400 plus a nice useable selection of primes. For bodies I have Jim's old 1Dx MKII and an old 6D that are both functional.
Do I double down on the EF glass and get the 5D to keep shooting for the next 5-7 yrs, do nothing and take my chances, or is it time to start moving to RF? I have no issue with the photos I am getting, quality is very good. Perhaps my only complaint is 6D's focus and low continuous shooting rates, both would be fixed by the 5D. Or I can save my nickels and start moving to mirrorless; though even the R6 is $2400 ish.
Decisions, decisions. At least last weeks computer decision is behind me; the Dell 27" 4k Dark Technology monitor is freaking awesome and HP computer should be here next week so that part of the photography hobby will soon be back up to current technology.
Dan, congrats on the computer solution, good to have that off the table. Now you have stepped into a hard question for others to give opinions on.
First, I don't think you can go wrong with your current gear and adding the 5DIV would be a great addition. I moved to mirrorless because my 7D II was having issues and my backup was a 5D III. If I had the 5D IV I would have not moved to mirrorless at that time.
Second, having moved to mirrorless (R6 and R5c), I am very happy. I have lens converters on both cameras so I am continuing to use my EF lenses. My 5D III, 5DSr and 7D II have not been used since I have my two mirrorless cameras. The mirrorless takes some getting use to with the flickering viewfinder, and all of the assignable buttons, but the results are great.
Funny, the situation you now face is similar to your former issue, PC or Mac/DSLR or mirrorless? Good luck, either way you will continue to produce great photos!
I found mine finally! It was in the Fall..late summer...Extremely bright sunny day. I should have waited about 1 -2 hours more. "The Golden Hour" but the crews on the other planes were putting canvass over them for the night.
