You are most welcome Chas! That's a challenging situation for sure. Whatever you get on this go around, the experience will be wonderful, and you will have added a lot of exposure knowledge for the next time. Pick everyone's brain when you get there, find a nice guy/lady, who has been there and is willing to help you out.
Well the architects from our Florida shoot emailed me this morning and they are over the top re: our imagery, which is always nice to hear............. Three hours of trial and error finally got the letters gone................
I am working on a different angle that doesn't, but that was the angle the architect liked best so it's the one that I tackled first. He was standing there with me the evening before and specifically said that the logo wasn't a big deal to him. I do so much work solo, it's very nice to have an extra pair of eyes on site for simple questions like that. My habit is to shoot every conceivable perspective anyway just to cover all the bases, unfortunately each of those angles is going to require hours of tweaking to remove the darn signage.

Jim and Ray, thanks for the quick responses. The Tv advice is a really great suggestion. I also plan on using spot metering on the engines and backing the exposure compensation down a bit so that the engines don't blow out the rest of the image. Would love your thoughts on that. I don't have much experience in shooting where there are such differences in the light levels.
"chas" just for some FYI..try Exposure compensation...3 shots at different WExp....Other than that..I envy you! I am SURE there will be many photographers there to help!

Chas, I photographed rocket launch once near Wallops Island in Virginia. My wife and I went down to Florida to photograph a Space X launch last April but it was postponed several times, we gave up. I think the settings/lens used depend on how you want the picture to look. I have seen beautiful shots of the long arch with reflection in water that was taken wide angle lenses. Good luck and have fun!
Did a group shot of the Winthrop High boys and girls hockey teams this afternoon. Both conference champions this year, combined record 34-3-1 (the girls are 18-0). Playoffs start next week. This will be for a banner at the rink.
Almost had a heart attack when I got back home. It was freezing rain, and our sloped driveway was slippery. I was worried about my footing and apparently not paying enough attention as I was taking my bag out of the back seat. Somehow out flopped the R5 fitted with a 24-70 f/2.8LII, hitting the pavement right on the face of the lens. The lens cap went flying, and I was dreading what I would see as I bent down to pick it up. Amazingly not a scratch. Even the lens filter is fine. Everything seems to work. Got lucky.
Keep an eye on it Mark, I've had a similar experience and the AF went toes up a few weeks later. Watch for noise while it's focusing. I sent it to CPS and the made it new for $600. That was 20 years ago though.
Nice shot Mark.
Dropped my 24-70 2.8L a few months back and cracked the polarizer and lens cap but not a scratch on the lens, still seems to take beautiful pictures. Glad you didn't fall down yourself or anything.
Bill, thank you I remember Subic Bay from a return trip to the middle of the Indian Ocean courtesy of USMC S2 3rdMarReg, 3rdMarDiv. On the way back from an aborted deployment, likely to Lebanon for Operation BlueBat, our ventilation system on our ship went belly up while on layover in Hong Kong. Sadly we were unable to enjoy the "local scenery" in Olongapo because the Red Guard was taking over additional territory. I hope you had better luck than we did. (we offered to gunny that, fully rigged as we all were - all Marines are 0300's - to go have some fun neutralizing them, but he declined). So, no luck with either.
