I had the privilge to be a "guest" and part of a "Welcome Home Ceremony" for all the Vietnam War vets in my County years ago.
I was most taken aback by the POW's I met and lived in my County and talking to each about "what it was like".
The very 1st Vietnam POW I met and we kept in touch for many, many years and until this day.
Everett Alvarez Jr. (born December 23, 1937) is a former United States Navy officer who endured one of the longest periods as a prisoner of war (POW) in U.S. military history. Alvarez was the first U.S. pilot to be shot down and detained during the Vietnam War and spent over eight years in captivity, making him the second longest-held U.S. POW, after U.S. Army Colonel Floyd James Thompson.
Each one of the pictured men were guests of the "Hanoi Hilton".
Yesterday, and the past couple of weeks have been pretty delightful compared to what we've endured so it wasn't too tough of a day. Yes, I used the Hero 11 at Arkanstol and it performed well. The stabilization is just a notch better than the 10 so it opens up some new opportunities for smooth video. I'm editing the helicopter footage and I'll post some of that in a day or two.
People are whining about the Hero 11 Black already, but my experience has been the best of all my GoPro's so far. The 10 hasn't given me any trouble though. The 11 runs for just over an hour with the new extended battery and that's with continuous shooting.

A twelve hour day, but well worth the effort!...............................
Is this where Bill, Ray and I will be staying while rebuilding that "aircraft" Jim?
Great photography!
Saw the sun for the first time in 6 days! Mucho rain. I was "blinded by the light"!

Bill, please thank your friend for these images!
Just great to see back into a time he and I were part of. My parents were both Navy WWII vets. My best friend served on the USS New Jersey and was "on station" in Vietnam in the late 1960's. My other best friend and neighbor was KIA in Operation Dewey Canyon 1969 and was awarded the Navy Cross. Another small town friend was an F4 pilot over N.Vietnam. His photo is posted somewhere here.
Now. looking back, it seems a blur...! As American's we should not forget this time period!
Thanks again!
Dan
