A few props. from the shows. Shooting props. remains a big challenge for me at slow shutter speed. I probably got 1 sharp one out of 100, glad I am not shooting film!

My newest client wants me to hang up the spurs and shoot exclusively for them.interesting to think about , but I don’t believe that I would ever do it, especially not at this stage of my life. They have an unending stream of video and still work scheduled for me and I’m looking forward to diving in and building our relationship starting in a month or so.
I can tell you the country is littered with small manufacturing shops Boeing left by the wayside after they told them if they would have Boeing as their only customer, they would give them all the work they could handle. That is great as long as the gravy train is going. Unfortunately, Boeing shut down the program and and told the small businesses, effective immediately, Boeing would not require any more product from them. Oh, and by the way, Boeing required them to be a "Just-In-Time" supplier. One of the machine shops I audited showed me the hundred foot wall of shelves with seat mounting fixtures he had ready for them when they slammed on the brakes. He went broke and had to start all over again.
For that reason, I would never contract for a single client unless I could afford to start over.
Nope, not tempted in the least. I've been a free agent for too long. Good news is, they want me to shoot for them no matter what the deal is so it will work out just fine. Truthfully, I cannot count the number of times someone has told me "We are going to keep you so busy..........." or something similar, it's the kiss of death near as I can tell. Positions and fortunes change way too fast these days to put all the eggs in one basket. When I was selling for Caterpillar the guys that had three big clients and no little ones always fascinated me. They would be making huge money and one day they's show up and one or more of their big clients, in this case mines, would have changed hands and their contacts were gone. My territory had lots of small to mid sized owners and I loved it because no one held the axe over my neck, diversification, the key to being able to sleep at night.
Guess what my buddy, aka customer said I could do...Can you say...

I Feel the Need, the Need for Speed !!!!!!!!!!!!!

More to come Goose, so be patient.
You wondered if there was vapor on Saturday............................... When they did the high speed tactical turn from left to right this vapor became visible on the south end of the field more in line with where I was.
Ya, found some!
And some more..........
At 14 frames a second, those 2 photos are less that a 1/10 of a second apart! I find it amazing how fast the shape and contour of the vapor was changing during the pass.
Loving your posts! I wish I had the 600mm plus 1.4X, that 840mm would be awesome as would a 50 meg sensor. But I am please what I am getting with the 100-400mm and 20 meg sensor. On Sunday I did shoot the 1.4X converter for some; that helped bring them in more but the slower autofocus was tough to get use to.
I finally had the opportunity to test my new Hero 11 Black. Just over 60 minutes of continuous 5.3K/60 video. The stabilization is better than my Hero 10 and the 10 is wonderful. The imagery is crisp and color is wonderful right off the card. More tests tomorrow, but I'm very pleased with it's performance at this point. I'll be sticking on a Legend Cub at Arkanstol for sure.
A Hero 11 update, I tested the 11 on a helicopter this morning. The air was a bit choppy which only aided my evaluation. There is a slight increase in quality with the larger sensor, but I don't think it's of consequence really. My interest in the newest version was really horizon lock and the incremental improvement in "Hypersmooth", and this camera shines in those areas. They claim slightly better performance in lower light and I think "slightly" may be accurate. Users always whine about GoPro peculiarities, and many of those are operator error, I've always thought of the GoPro as a pretty miraculous camera and as such, I've been pretty forgiving of any shortcomings.
Ambient temps were in the 90's for yesterday's test and it ran continuously for over an hour at 5.3K/30 with no overheating problem. This morning the air was mid sixties so obviously it didn't have a problem with that.
The Hero 11 has a number of new settings, a bump to 5.3K in certain modes and they kept the same form factor so all the cases and accessories work with it. Bottom line is, unless you have my specialized needs I don't know that upgrading from a Hero 10 Black is worth the money, but if the absolute best stabilization is important then the 11 is well worth the investment. We were getting bounced around this morning and the footage looks like the camera was bolted to a steel girder. There is a little quirk to the stabilization, and the R5 does the same thing, if you are rolling in on a subject in a pretty good bank (or any bank angle more severe than mild really), the stabilization gets the jitters and it looks like the camera is dropping frames, but it isn't. The work around is just plan the approach so that mild banks are all that are required.
I'm sending GoPro's demo model back and ordering three Hero 11's, they have come out with another winner.

Bill, it's my life time regret that I have never seen a Tomcat in flight, I was too late to become interested in airshows..

Super shots Dan! Glad you caught it. Sometimes 840mm can be too long when the jets are fast approaching, but it's fun to get some closeups and clipped wings. . The next show for me be at Langley AFB in May 2023, a long time to wait. In between I will be shooting fall foliage, eagles, snow and ice:
Now I know why my GoPro 10 was so “cheap.” Damn, had I waited another week I’ve gotten the latest and greatest. Oh well. My use for it is probably atypical. It shines as a BWC, i.e., a body worn camera. Auto upload to the cloud and for 350$ or I’ve got an Axon equivalent used by my LEO confreres, well, almost. Why ask you do I need a BWC? Well, in my neighborhood, not low end, within the past couple of months there have been six armed robberies of citizens waiting at the bus stop to go to work. All women, all by the same scum bag. NO LE response that has been reported. But then, hey. Damned if I’d risk my career either. I mean, shucks, nobody got hurt. So, on my thrice weekly workouts in the area, self-protected as required, I now have a BWC. The little blinking light is really cool. Local LE sitting in his vehicle on the parapet of the Rocky statue asked me, “Damn, dude, what you wearing that for?” Ans., “same reason as you are but a damn lot cheaper. I appreciate your service, Sir.” Just sayin’
Take care Tony, it’s a different world out there. Even if they caught the guy he’d be out in a couple of hours and back at it. You’d spend more time locked up if you took him out than he would were he nabbed, upside down world!
The Hero 10 is an outstanding camera, the 11 wouldn’t offer you anything that you need in your application. I keep a GoPro annual membership so they give me pretty good deals. I’m not an “influencer” or anything, my little site only has 9 million hits 🤣
Trying to be a little more creative with my feature shots. This kid is a sophomore wide receiver on varsity. He takes advanced placement classes making A's. He already has 14 catches, 326 yards (23.3 per reception) and a team-high six touchdowns receiving. Plus, he is a really nice kid to work with. He was patient with me as he tried to spin the ball several times until I caught the ball near the center of the shot.
"The Life Saver" Bill!
I still can hear the roar of the F4's engines as they swept in for close air-ground cover. The stick pulled back and gone vertical lest they crash into the Laotion Mtns!!!
Beautiful and thank your buddy for me! Would love to see more! I assume he was on a carrier?
