And we are a week closer. Assignments have changed from preseason practice to preseason scrimmages. Much more fun. This particular team (guys in red jerseys) looks better at the beginning of the year than where they were at midseason last year. Hope they have a fun and successful year. #12 is pulling in an interception behind the receiver.

Good Morning Ray!
Just FYI...my nephew just took a sports related job at Baylor Univ.
He was a professor at Appalachia St and sports media person(Asst Director of Sports Production-mainly football) there. He is moving up and is on his way to Texas.
I told him I would refer a few of you sports photographers to him when he gets settled.
Don't know if you have "on field" privileges for BaylorU but will see what I can do, if interested, when Kyle gets settled!

Wow Dan, that is very generous and thoughtful of you. I am about 30 minutes south of Baylor. The newspaper I work with uses national coverage for their college coverage, so I do not get to go to Baylor. We do cover University of Mary Hardin Baylor (UMHB) in Belton, a Div. III university. Thank you so much. I would love to welcome your nephew to Texas.
Since he is working for Baylor, I wonder if Chip and Joanna Gaines (Magnolia Realty) will give him a discount to find and renovate a home?. They had the remodeling show called 'Fixer Upper' and recently bought the DIY network and renamed it Magnolia.

Yeah we used to watch Chip and Joanna.....I will let him know. He is there now doing what one must to take the new job! He is engaged and only 27. So he has his full life ahead of him.
He is very excited.
He is NOT a photographer. Just the Sports Media Coordinator. My youngest brother(his father) and I were going to "road trip" before football season is over but I cannot go due to personal reasons here at home. But Joe will be headed your way also. If even for a moment.
But I will contact him ASAP.

Jim, beautiful disks!
Two shots at sunrise on Sunday to brighten up your week!
The Airforce show is shaping up to be just awesome! My cousin has been keeping me up to date; I'll be at the show and we'll have to find a way to connect. I am arriving Thursday as I will be at the show Saturday - Sunday as my cousin is supporting it. He enlisted and served 27 yrs with the airforce, graduating as an E9; and after getting his master degree in HR has held a civilian position at the base. I fly in, get picked up at Reagan International, and dropped off several days later. I get a vacation!!!!!
Your sunrise photo's are just awesome!!! Keep it coming.

I was unaware that JBA was having a show this year.
My source appears to have gotten it wrong!
Beautiful sunflowers! Was this the sunflower farm in Poolesville?
Again super compositions!!!

Absolutely stunning Douglas! How did you light the Sunflowers?
Thank you Jim! All these shots were taken in natural lighting. I don't even own a flash. There was a fair amount of editing work to brighten up the shadow area in the first shot. It was pretty dark in the original file. Not much was done to the second one because the sun was up already and the flowers were back lit.

Hi Dan, if you are arriving on Thursday you can see the show on Friday too! DOD members can bring families in on Friday, I believe. As of now, I am planning to go Andrews on Sat. The guys in our bible study cell group were contemplating a field trip and I proposed we should see the airshow. Now the ladies are going too! I will give you me cell phone # so we can connect at the base and shake hands. On Sunday I will be driving to Oceana for their show. It's a very big one too and will be my last show for the year. Hope the weather will be good. The last time Andrews had a show was 2019, they had both the BA and TB and stealth jets too but the weather was horrible. The show was actaully cancelled on one of the two days.
Tomorrow I will be going to Atlantic City for their show. The lineup isn't that exciting (TB and F-18 Super Hornet), I always like to see one of the new stealth jets in a show.

Thank you Dan! This sunflower farm in in Fulton, about 5-minute drive from my house. I didn't go to the farm in Poolsesville this year.
Here are some more sunrise shots last week, a different morning.

Dan, this farm is the locally famous turkey farm in Fulton, off Rt 216/Maple Lawn. I was chatting with an older gentleman this morning who was also waiting for sunrise at the farm. It was just too cloudy. The gentleman said the farm was finally sold to a developer several years ago after years of trying to get county permits. The farmer became multi multi millionaire. This was not the only piece of the farm they sold. That location commands very high price for lots. Near where I live, more and more farms are being sold to developers. The open space to view sunrise and sunset is going away fast!
