For all my friends across the pond, Sheila and I took in the new "Downton Abbey" movie this evening and, as expected, it was wonderful. Great story, charming people, interestingly, no sex, no guns, no explosions, no swearing, imagine that, just what a movie should be, entertaining.
The air force boys and girl were showing the navy boys they could fly in tight formation too
Joking aside, the TB's formation does seem pretty tight with the new maneuvers started last year.
The show at Dover AFB yesterday was brutal, 95 degrees (35 C), some folks got heat strokes, some folks left before the show was over. Even the TB had to cut short some of their usually long ceremonial stuff. The heat distortion was horrendous. I blame any unsharp pictures on the heat

We finally got the last one "hooded", my job is finished! Our youngest daughter walked yesterday for her Ed.D. Now, both daughters and both husbands all have their doctoral degrees.

We also are awaiting the showing here Jim! We have been hooked on this most excellent series for many years! The actors and the acting is just so well written and portrayed.
We watch it continuously and always find something we never have remembered before.

Just fantastic Harry!!!! Really fine exposures in places where getting it correct can be a challenge!

Something interesting is happening. My youngest, who just got her Ed.D, and her husband have left public education in Texas. She was a director at a large school district and he was a principal at a high performing high school. She is now working for a nationwide company that provides on-line classes. In addition to managing the southwest part of the US, she is developing new programs for advance placement and college equivalent courses for kids in districts or schools that don't have them, or for the kids to enroll in them after school because they can't fit them into their normal schedule. The expectation is for these kids to graduate high school with as much as 24-30 college hours.
Her husband left public schools to work for a national company that mentors and councils school districts to improve their academic processes. Both are much happier, but they are sad about the state of public education. My son-in-law was in the infamous Round Rock school district that has been in the news because of their dysfunctional superintendent and school board. These two have always considered the kids the reason they were in education, but they are much happier people since leaving. Too much stress.
I guess I am writing this to reveal the public education system is in deep peril now, with teachers, students and administrators becoming frustrated. Also, the pandemic isolation is the cause many students are having psychological problems parents and teachers are dealing with. Sad state of affairs. This is hitting close to home.

Since we are on the topic of education, it's very interesting to see in Howard County, where I live, several Chinese parents (those who came to the U.S. like me) are running for the board of education, because they are sick and tired of some of the BS being pushed at schools. They want their children to learn to read, write, do well in math and science, get a good job that pays their bills in the future. It's that simple. My kids are grown so I don't have anyone in public schools in our county, but I will ask for a few yard signs for those Chinese folks who are running, not because they are Chinese, but because they want to focus on educating the kids and what they are seeing now in the U.S. is mini version of Mao's "Cultural Revolution".

Douglas, here in Texas, if you are interested in the best public school for your kid, you would typically look for a school with a large "Asian" student population. There is no way to not sound racist saying this, but it is well known by many educators the Asian parents are most concerned about the subjects you referred to. They are also in competition among their group for the top valedictorian and salutatorian positions. (These are some of the target kids my daughter's program will target since by allowing them to take courses after school, they can remain in their performing art classes and still have grades supporting their class rank..) The majority of students at my son-in-law's school are Asian. There are so many deserving the top class rank the parents petitioned the school board to eliminate class rank. This was mostly due to Texas state colleges automatically admit the top 10 students from a high school. Without the ranking, colleges look at the grades and compare them with all the applicants. This allows there to be many more than the top 10 eligible for automatic admission from his high school.
This B-2 didn't show up at its time slot and it wasn't announced when it would arrive. I grabbed one of my cameras to go to the portable potty, knowing that things may happen when I am not paying attention. Lo and behold, 5 seconds after I was done, the B-2 was flying overhead. I didn't have time to get to a better spot so I got what I got. I have seen B-2s under much better light and angle but I was still happy I didn't miss it. I have seen it 6 or 7 times but it's always surreal to witness this piece of engineering marvel.
OK, last batch from Saturday's show at Dover. Because the Blues were added to the show 5 weeks ago, they didn't get to fly the last like they usually do in other shows, the TBs did. The Blues flew at 1:00 PM, the worst of the worst in terms of light in a 95 degree sunny day.
I may see them again tomorrow or Wed at the Naval Academy in Annapolis but rain is in the forecast. Will definitely see them this coming weekend on Long Island.
