Well, I think we'll have some spectacular footage/stills and experiences to share later this year and throughout the next couple. A project that I've been working on for over four years is coming together and it promises to be a very exciting and challenging series of experiences. The idea for the project began, as I said, four years ago and we spooled up for it, only to have it put on hold for a number of reasons I'm not at liberty to discuss. Now that we are anticipating being back on track later in the year, I am reaching out to the partners I have carefully selected to make this the best it can possibly be.
I'm headed to the West Coast soon to become familiar with the people and systems at Wolfe Air. Soon we'll be crisscrossing the US producing a series of truly once in a lifetime cinema and still imagery. Here's a preview of what is involved.
Safe travels to everyone! It's 3:18 DFW time and I've been wide awake for an hour thinking about the logistics of these upcoming projects, along with how to accomplish what is already on my plate. Good problems to have, but hitting th sack at 12:20 and getting up at 3 isn't going to work too many times in a row. Got an 8am meeting with Apple that I need to bright eyed for and some helicopter work if the sky allows. We have a little "climate change" in the offing on the edge of the stuff in the Gulf so who knows?
I know what you mean Jim and Dan. Finally crashed about 230, and at 630 I woke up, 730 I gave up trying to get another hour in. What threw off my schedule was my older son, who left Tuesday morning. I'd had an appointment after work, gone grocery shopping, and came home. Son was on the road about an hour, had just made it to the outskirts of Columbus, and had a blowout. He put the donut tire on, and turned around. I wound up having to buy two tires for that car and giving him some extra gas money :/ By the time I was done with all that, it was 2pm, and my plan for laundry after work was shot. Finally got the car all packed by 4pm yesterday, and was at the car wash scraping off the bird poop and realized I hadn't packed sneakers. Back to the house, then on the road, FINALLY.
I've been having a hiccup with one of my 5K iMacs, really ever since it was new, kernel panics. I rarely get a big file transferred without coming back to it and finding the "Your computer was shut down due to a problem" message. Lately I've been moving some pretty big folders to the 50TB Drobo 5d's and it's really gotten annoying, so I texted my Apple Guru and he had me meet him ahead of the store opening this morning for a Genius Bar analysis. There are so many variables involved in that stuff that I wasn't expecting them to find anything definitive and figured I'd have to limp along with it until I upgraded in December to the iMac Pro. Fortunately, during the second tier of diagnostics, it was clearly showing that my SSD Flash Memory associated with the Fusion Drive wasn't functioning. So, once again my Apple Care dollars were a good investment because they've ordered a grand in parts to get it back up to speed.
The odd thing is, I have exactly the same set up at HQ, with 50TB 5D's and it will hum along for five days of file transfers without any problem at all. I knew that it was something peculiar to that particular 5K iMac, but figured we'd never be able to pinpoint it.
While I was there we discussed to new iMac Pro's and MacBook Pro's that will be out at the end of the year. The general consensus seems to be that a fully loaded iMac Pro will bump ten grand. They advised me to wait until the speed tests come out to see if my particular applications, Adobe CC, FCP, and DaVinci Resolve 14, will experience enough of a speed bump to make that worthwhile. Weebeesee!

We need a "Too Bad" button for occasions like this John
I dedicated this afternoon to beginning a course on the new DaVinci Resolve 14 cinema editing and color grading platform. Sheesh! It's an absolutely amazing piece of software, but it makes Photoshop look like paint by numbers. Really exciting capabilities though, and you have to be good at it if you're going to be serious about 4/8K RAW product.
Here's a thing. One Lightning to SD card reader, plus an iPad Pro, plus a copy of Affinity Photo on said iPad, makes a damn fine and very mobile photo editing machine. Just sayin'... Affinity reads RAW files and is basically Photoshop for iPad. I am liking it very much.
Safely ensconced in Falmouth, Mass, tonight. I hate driving to the Cape during the summer!!!! 909.9 miles from my door to here. Treated myself to a lobster roll for dinner since I've not had a hot meal since I left (ramen noodles don't really count as a hot meal)
Enjoy Laura! Looking forward to some great images along the way. Relax, breath deep, treat yourself, you deserve it!
I did a series of assignments for Cape Air up in that area a few years ago. They picked me up in Boston, flew me all over their route system, along the Cape. Their average trip length was .3 of an hour and they rarely got above 500' agl, 'er agw as it were.
I have the pleasure of listening to and seeing Aluminum Overcast flying over my work today. Knew by the sound, didn't even have to guess, like being at Osh................
Am in good spirits today, just seen that P-51B "Berlin Express" will be at Flying Legends next month. Always up for adding some shots of a different Mustang to my collection!!!
Some more from Stow Maries, have really enjoyed the post processing with this collection, nearly as much as the shoot itself.
James don't know if you have Facebook but there on the page of the Fighter Collection there is a video of a container containing P51D Frenesi and I saw on the Air tattoo page that they talked about Berlin express so maybe they have taken 2 mustangs with them..
Ow just read that they fly Berlin Express over from the US and Frenesi has arrived by container whooo
On the other news one of the Thunderbirds F16's flipped over at the Dayton International Airport...
