The wind is back at it today, but I’m going out to seal the floor of Faith’s shed. Plan on finishing the trim this week at some point if Sheila will let me sneak away from the mile long pre wedding honey do list she has concocted. Sheesh! These people are merciless!!🤣

This is the environment where "No." became a complete sentence. However, love, respect and living with someone overpowers that one word sentence. (Yeah, speaking from experience.)
That Texas like weather has been up here too; we are getting our own shed like experiences! Yesterday I was up on the roof securing shingles in SE's of 30 with gust to 45........................ Limited the damage and today since it is calm I get to go up and repair as much of it as I can before the next blows on Wed & Thur. It has really been a windy year up here! Roof should have been fine except the tabs on the shingles never sealed when new; we bought the house 10 yrs ago and have been chasing the issue ever since.
At least the roof is a nice gentle 4X12 pitch and not hard to get on. I need to limp it along just another year, 2 max till the we do the deck project that will likely include a covered deck. That is the only reason to not replace that 20 yr old roof now. Between add in's like this that come up randomly and the Honey Do list I just don't seem to be making a lot of progress on other aspects of life; like photography. Did some stuff last month I need to post; that College Snowmobile Change work I have done in the past. Shot some nice work but just haven't posted it yet.
Jim; I missed the memo; who is getting married? I'm sure that part of the Honey Do List has been previously shared but just noticing.
Hi Dan, be careful up there Hunter, our oldest Grandson is getting married in two weeks. Sheila is using that as an excuse to get me to do everything she's asked of me in the last five years.................
The SmallRig cage came for my R5c this morning. I think I have it all configured for video now, time to begin wringing it out. Tony, are you ready for your new 5DSR..........? When I ship it to you it will come with a bunch of 128GB CF cards, because I won't have anything that uses them once the 5DSR is yours.

I was up on my porch gable repairing a shingle that folded over in the wind. It is up at the top under the ridge caps. I had replaced the shingle under that one a month ago in our last wind storm. It blew off completely. The wind returned today and the shingle is staying put...so far! Tired of climbing up there!

My wife has asked me to repaint our deck for 3 years. She said I spent too much time taking pictures
Good News from United Airlines, I know that could be considered blasphemy!
I photographed this aircraft on Dec. 31, 2011 and I didn't even know it was coming in that day, just a total luck of the draw. The second photo was when I went over to Roswell, NM when UA parked a TON of their jets, along with AA and Frontier. I never really expected to see her in the skies again, and I got word late last week, she is back in the air. I just think this is a cool paint scheme.

A REALLY O.T question!!
Ray and other ranchers/farmers.....do Longhorns scare from a human presence outside their owner?
I grew up in cattle country, more milkers and beef stock, and being aware of one's approach can get any cattle anxious. So I can approach and know when to close is close enough. When I was younger I could run and was agile. Now I am slow, old and no energy to run!
I pass my neighbor's l.h. farm and there is no place to park and shoot. I stopped by a few times and he wasn't home.
I may have to "trespass" but if that scares the cattle, I will wait until another time. From about 500 yards plus..they are aware of me and are not spooked.
Dan
PS There were barbed wire fences, 1 electric and 2 metal gates between me and the beautiful creatures!
Judy (our friend who owns the Longhorns) told me they are OK when she is around, of course she hand feeds them buckets of treats each day, so they are trained. The herd is very protective of young ones or when a cow is giving birth. They will circle the calf or cow when they sense an outsider, and yes the male will take a more aggressive approach if threatened. I was shooting around a barbwire fence while Judy was there and they were very docile. They would even walk towards me, probably thinking I had a snack or two. The male, (last photo), kept and eye on me as I was the only one walking around the herd. When Judy's cow dogs would naw at their snout when they crossed under the barbwire (barbedwore in the local vernacular) to retrieve a snack, the male would get a little irritated at them. Longhorns are more protective and aggressive than most cattle (referring to cows, not bulls), so I would be very cautious.
Thanks Ray! Yes I am aware of the bull's attitude for his women and his kids. I am well aware of that. I tend to "talk" to creatures when around them. Crazy but heh..they know me and I know them so to speak. I am no threat and my voice may calm them.
They have more in common sense than most people I interact with!
I wanted your opinion and any others. I can't get to them without going through my neighbor's 1 gate. So I will just wait. Or hope I can park about 1/4 mile and do a slow walk across the main drag to the single fence then shoot.
Paul has the 3 crosses on the crest of a huge hill that the l.h gather so I am hoping to catch them there. If the sky is heavily clouded you shoot up and it is very beautiful with all the cattle around the 3 crosses.
I think this would make a great picture.
Thanks Ray Appreciate you input and sorry this is off thread but the thought hit me and if I don't react now..I lose that thought!
Dan
I haven't checked the beef price at grocery stores lately. Today they said the March inflation was 8.5% something but the calculation is very misleading because a lot of stuff that are not meant for daily life like food and gas are included in the formula. It seems to be a worldwide problem but the buck needs to stop at whoever in power.
Since I didn't get to see the SpaceX launch during my trip to Florida, I may as well have some fun with birds.

Are your photos with the pink winged bird a Roseate Spoonbill? Neat looking bird. Love your bird photos and the last one too!
