The famed C17 that carried 800+ people to safety on one flight. God Bless and protect our heroes, our troops.................
I can’t imagine how many people can pack in a C-5, if they can get to the Kabul airport. What a disaster and disgrace! It’s gut punching to look at the picture of the talibans in American uniforms and helmets doing their version of the Iwo Jima flag raising to mock us. In my 30 years in this country, I have seen three major blunders by our leaders and the intelligence community, 9.11., the Iraq WMD, and the speed of the Taliban takeover.
Gut punching is a good term. This entire administration is, and has been since the get go, so far out of it's depth that it is laughable..............but no one is laughing. There are a lot of people with buyer's remorse right now, but there is the core "woke" crowd that will find a way to put lipstick on this pig and look the other way. Whatever happens, and there is every possibility this will go further south than it already has, we are fast becoming "America Last" which is what this administration campaigned on so they are succeeding "brilliantly". Seeing The United States of America being held hostage by evil thugs like the Taliban, and knowing what they are and will continue to do to their own people, is simply intolerable. It is not a secret that the US stabilizes the world, that is clearly in jeopardy given the 8 months of executive orders and race bating that has ripped us, our economy and our reputation on the world's stage, but hey, we got rid of the mean Tweets........................
A colleague of mine, who knows lots more about this shite than I, said about the Trashcanistan debacle: “we no longer train to win wars, we fiddle away to participate in them.” Then he said: “what you’re seeing now is what happens when we have a demented old man and a hooker as ‘leaders.’ “ May God help US.
I was at Love Field early this morning for an assignment and when I finished I hung out there for a couple of hours, since everything is landing on the east side right now, as they are completely gutting and re-building the west runway.
Here's a shot of ExxonMobil's G-550 that came back from a test flight.
The Milky Way photo's a few pages back inspired me to look back in the files. I have tried to capture the Milky Way a time or two, tough task and really love what was shared.
Your airshow photo's were awesome and really smashed the Luv Button!!!! Don't know what else to say that hasn't be shared.
Keep up the fantastic work, keeps us moving forward just trying to keep you in sight!
Dan
Thank you very much, Dan! Fantastic astro shots from you and Don. I have never tried that even though I have lenses that are capable for astro, but the operator is not.
How about some non aviation pictures from the last couple days?. The sunflower farm is just 5 minutes drive from my house. We all need something pretty to look at during this crazy time.

Just beautiful Douglas!
Where is the sunflower farm? I love animals, grew up in what was then the "cattle country" of Maryland. The angus in the frame makes the sunflowers all the more powerful!!!
Are they still in bloom?
We have 2 near me but they have all flowered and I missed them both!
Again great images all!
Dan
But I have to know, how did you get all those Sunflowers to face the sun for you? Not one was looking at the camera!
Dan
Thank you Dan! One of these days I will find a sunflower facing the "right" direction. Like many folks, I had the misconception that sunflowers follow the direction of the sun during the day but based on what I have seen, that's not necessarily the case.

Dan, this one is right off Rt 216 across from the Fulton post office. It's in peak bloom. It's a 5-minute drive from my house. I think the best time is sunrise.
