Here comes the Thunderbirds, the first 3 were uncropped or just cropped a little. Sometime they got too close at 840mm. When they got too close, I didn't have time to switch to another camera with the 200-600mm on. I had an Sony A1 with the 600mm+1.4 TC, and another A1 with the 200-600. 600mm is still not long enough sometimes so I got greedy and went up to 840mm with the TC.
Very sad to hear Geico Sky Typer lost a plane and its pilot today in Pa during practice for this weekend's show. I just saw them perform on Wednesday! They had a similar accident few years ago. Very sad for the team and the pilot's family.
Here is a picture of them from this past Wednesday's show in Atlantic City. RIP.
After a couple of whirlwind butt busting days, my Amarillo project is complete. A beautiful dusk last night and an equally gorgeous dawn was the icing on the cake...................

Well I can see where all that time and effort went, Jim. Three words to describe that picture, Balance, Balance and Balance. How much of a time window did you have for that? 10 – 15 mins? Maybe only a few seconds! I hope the client is as happy as they should be! Oh, and well done for showing such restraint and not taking that tree out!

Just magnificent compositions Douglas! Just spectacular photography!

Thank you! Amarillo is big sky country and the clouds cooperated, so the light "bounce" that we all love lasted about 15 minutes. The building's personality changed minute to minute during that time period. We were blessed to have both a dusk and dawn to explore the possibilities.
Unlike most of my assignments, I was fortunate to have the architect by my side for this shoot, a tremendous asset. The facility is running at full tilt so there were substantial challenges. Rarely do I have the luxury of shooting a project after completion, but before the owner takes possession and the clutter moves in.

Gentlemen, thank you very much! It means a lot.
I was all excited about the show at Oceana NAS, Va in Sept, it had a very nice lineup and I wanted to see the Blue Angels one more time this year. They just announced the show was cancelled due to the Wuhan export.
Anyway, here are some more shots from this past Wed. I will go to another TB, F-22 show in Orange county New York next weekend, that will be it for me this year.
The last one is the pair of f-16s that just returned from Afghanistan, they did a flyby, in place of the C-17 and the C-5 that were supposed to do the flyby but got sent to Kabul.
Douglas, I can only repeat what others have said, the bar has been raised. Great job documenting the airshow. Your photos are a treat for us who have not had one in our area, and what a treat it is! You captured the Ospreys like I have never seen, outstanding!

Not much left to be said Douglas, this may be the end of your season, but you concluded on a high note for sure! Well done!
Thank you, Gentlemen, for your kind words.
Ray, here is 2 more osprey shots for you. The light was horrible. I was already at f20, couldn't get a shutter speed slow enough for the proper prop. motion.
