There are a lot worse places the kids could be spending their time and energy. Dan's right, there is a wholesomeness about the country and the people who live there. Before we had a place in the country I always noticed the difference when we went to small town Rodeos, everyone treats you differently from the kids on up, it's refreshing. Now, when we go up to spend the day with the kids, I see it in them, in the people at lunch and the farm and ranch store, it's the way things should be but increasingly are not.
Bell County use to be like that, all over the county. Any girl/lady at a restaurant or cashier might call you "Sweetie" having never set eyes on you. When I do feature shots of athletes, boys and girls, they are very polite with "sir" used in every statement, no matter their socio-economic status. We are quickly becoming a bedroom community for Austin and Waco and things are changing, not for the better. Too many are bringing their culture from other places and they are not as friendly.

Even our July 4th parades are special. This is Dr. Long. Every year, until he passed, he drove his JD garden tractor in the Belton July 4th parade. He towed just about everyone in the family. It grew from children, to the children/grandchildren/great grandchildren. He passed a few years ago and one of the son's took over the tradition.

You have to know Sheila to see the true humor in this image. She's surrounded by mini cows that act more like puppies, and she is not a huge animal person. Halle is telling her all the cows' names and the differences in their personalities. The herd numbers seven now..................
I know mini horses but have never heard of mini cows before. Learned something new!
Not such a beautiful day at KPHL, gray for sure, made even more bleak and dismal because "he who will go unnamed" arrived precluding any joy whatever in mudville. At one point while positioned on Hog Island, two blacked out, black Limos drove by me while I was standing outside my car with my rig of a D7500, 200-500/5.6. Since these vehicles were sporting on their rooftops antennae of various sizes and shapes, to include a full circle radome on the trailing vehicle, I demurred from taking picture of them. I had no idea that the women of the Sisters of Mercy had upgraded their transportation equipment.

A freakin' radome of all things. Hell, I probably got electronically frisked as they drove by. Or, maybe not, because they didn't stop (if you catch my drift).
