Thank you Douglas! I know I say it pretty much every time you post a series of images but.........WOW! See what I mean about not regretting buying the 600mm? Where did you find those Eagles? Just wonderful!!

Super cute picture with the American flag in the background, Jim.
Some shots of flying subjects from yesterday. I won't be shooting planes until my first airshow at the end of May. In the meantime, these will do. The wingspans of these bald eagles are just massive!
You all have a great weekend!
Douglas
Anything with the Stars and Stripes is beautiful Jim&Douglas!
Just magnificient compositions Douglas!!!! Just a beautiful image producing lens and body! The bokeh is stunning!
Such detail!!!!!!
Well done my friend!!

I just unboxed the 24-70 IS "L" and put it on the R5. These RF lenses have a whole different feel to them compared to previous models, just a step up in everything, they just feel good. I pre-ordered the new 100 Macro RF yesterday and told them to snag an R3 for me when they become available.
While I was playing with the 24-70 last night I went ahead and did the latest update on my R5, seemed to go ok.
Eddie Ray is blazing away with the 1DX III this weekend making sports photographic history in Central Texas. I think he's having fun!
Yep, having fun! Packing up as I type to cover the Temple vs Belton baseball rivalry this afternoon. It's a chilly 54 degrees (F) with 20 mph gusts putting the windchill in the 40s. What do we say "f/8 and be there?" Yep, I will be there with a smile on my face! What a camera! More bells and whistles than a BNSF rail yard.

I am glad you are "supporting" our economy Jim!!!
The new CanonRumors out about a new mega pixel body has me in "Stand-Down" mode for now.
Now below here is a "Say What?" moment...Suzanne and I were returning home via a "road-less-traveled" and as we started to crest a hill..all we saw was the tail fin of this GulfStream jet!!! We actually though it had an emergency landing or crashed..but no smoke, no emergency vehicles. We could not see past the upper tail section..
I went back yesterday and here she is with her "partner" 1926 Model T Ford in full rust mode!
I shot using my 5DSr and 1Dx....

Boy, a full blown version with wings would look really good sitting in the front pasture of Jennifer's ranch in Tioga! The Texas sun would devour it in a couple of years unfortunately. I think I have enough to say grace over, I'll let that brainstorm blow right on through.........................
Went down to Austin for an assignment yesterday and had some time in between the exterior shots and caught this Delta A-220 aircraft departing Austin.
I've had the opportunity to fly on three of these aircraft with Delta and they are a nice ride. I'm still a Boeing guy, but since this really is a Bombardier product, it's okay.
I haven't done any "Macro" photography for quite a few years, and then it was largely related to architectural model photography. Back in the day I had a 55 macro and a 100 macro, both of which have ceased to function properly. The new 100 RF Macro is a good example of where technology is taking us. Obviously the optics are better, but it features the ability to increase magnification to 1.4 within the lens itself, and it has a new control ring labeled "SA" for spherical aberration, which allows the user to control the bokeh qualities.
My architectural models builders have all retired and with the advent of 3D modeling that is kind of an industry that has gone the way of the type setter so there isn't much of that work anymore. The beauty of the new 100 RF Macro is that it's a great portrait lens as well as macro. My guess is that I'll use it for product assignments more than anything, and then portraits if I like the SA feature.
I agree Dave, that was a risky ditch. I doubt he ever saw those dots in between the little swells that were folks bobbing around a little further out, the over the nose visibility in a TBM is not great. That being said, he nailed it as far as the approach, doubt that it would have been as uneventful had that been on land. There's probably more damage done from the recovery operation than the water impact.
