A summary of why there are so many drones for sale, virtually unused and at bargain basement prices. Everyone thought they were going to make a killing in the drone services arena only to find out that "everyone" thought that and the market immediately saturated. Many other factors contributed to the quick demise of the drone photography/videography business, like people not having the eye or dexterity to fly creatively. Just because you own a drone doesn't mean that, without a vision and a lot of technique development, you can create interesting, fluid sequences in flight. Like everything else, there is a small number of entrepreneurs who will rise to the top and succeed, but the vast majority are dumping their "investments" at pennies on the dollar.
Still dialing in the R5 and learning it's idiosyncrasies. IBIS is a great feature but you have to know when and where to use it. This clip would have been really good, except when I began panning with the helicopter, then you can see minute jerks as the IBIS tries to perform it's function, which renders thee footage useless. Still love the video capabilities of the R5, and IBIS, but it's not perfect.
Unfortunately I lost my wingman, Henry, yesterday. I know you never met him but he was with me when I either took, edited or posted my images on here over the last 9.5 years.
Whilst I take some comfort I was with him at the end, I'm absolutely heartbroken but trying to stay strong for his brother

So sorry James, it's tough to lose our furkids. They do have a way of wiggling into our hearts.

So sorry for your loss, James. I lost one of my two Cavalier King Charles Spaniels four years ago, I still think of him everyday.
Went to Arlington, Virginia to take pictures of Washington DC at sunrise this morning, while the monuments are still standing....the clouds were just too thick. According to the Washington Post, which I do not read, "a committee reporting to D.C. Mayor Muriel E. Bowser (D) called Tuesday to “remove, relocate or contextualize” the Jefferson Memorial and the Washington Monument." I kid you not. What has my adopted homeland become??
Also snapped a few shots of the Arlington National Cemetery through the new fence. Probably will try again when they lay a Christmas wreath on every tombstone, hopefully with some snow covering the ground.
I worked on C-141 #66-0177 when it was an 'A' model at Norton AFB, CA. The USAF Military Airlift Wing (MAW circa 1970ish) was the 63rd MAW, while the USAF Reserve unit at the base was the 445 MAW. There were two C-141s assigned to the reserve unit, 0177 was one. I remember several events with that bird. One was I was sent out to trouble shoot the APU that wouldn't start (I was a jet engine mechanic). I bounded up the steps when an SP blocked me with his M-16. He asked what I was doing on the aircraft and told him. He continued to block me until the crew chief told him I was OK. When I stepped in I saw several large Igloo coolers, Christmas decorations and seats installed. I asked the CC what was going on. He said they were waiting on me to fix the APU so they could go to LA to get Bob Hope and his USO tour group. I found the problem and ordered the part. Maintenance control told us the part was not in stock. I worked the graveyard shift, so they were nearly ready for taxi. I thought there was no way they would unload that bird and make their schedule. I told my supervisor they should take off without APU start power, leave one engine running to pick up Mr. Hope and change the starter at Hickam AFB. That is what they did, but not because of me, just common sense. Oh, the coolers? They were filled with ribeye steaks and Champaign. They also had a stage set up for a band at the clamshell door area in the cargo bay (the seats faced aft in the 141). The 'Hanoi Taxi' event happened several months after I left Norton.
One of my photos from my time at Norton.
"When your point and shoot isn't wide enough!. The C-5 had just entered the USAF inventory when I took this. One of the first ones I saw. This bird is from Travis AFB, CA.

Just beautiful Douglas!
To you and James, I have lost all my "children", American Cocker Spaniels. It is a loss my soul will not recover from! They were the light of my life for many years! It is NOT easy!
Douglas, I am afraid things will be changing and not for the good!

They are the eyes into the human soul James!!!! Our comfort will come when they all meet us at the Rainbow Bridge! It can't come soon enough for me!
