Must be a tough life for that guy!
Dee is a business machine and everything he touches turns to platinum. This is his second Phenom but if he wanted a G650 ER he'd have to look no further than his wallet. Super guy and an absolute wizard. Owns the most beautiful Ford Tri-Motor in existence. The reason he flies the Phenom when he can afford virtually any aircraft is, he wants a jet he can fly single pilot. Dee is in love with flight and yes, he is definitely living the dream.
This was from a visit to HQ a few years ago when he had a pristinely restored Tucano..........
Just got a call from the FAA/Part 107 Authorization Division, looks like I have two year blanket approval for drone operations in and around DFW, AFW, and KTKI. That is going to make my life a little easier going forward.
The problem is , with aviation one ends up lifting whatever the camera is attached to. Years ago I bought everything Wimberley had to offer and many of you have witnessed me attempting to integrate it into my shooting , then throwing it on the ground and shooting handheld.
I did just order a VariZoom zero gravity pro rig for specific cinematography work, but there seems to be nothing for stills.
BTW, a cursory test of the new Hero Max from Go Pro shows promise. The imagery is slightly better, and the stabilization takes very good to the level of exceptional. Sony’s outward desire for me to help them get their RX0II up to the task has gone dark. Apparently they are happy producing an $800 paperweight Amazing that GoPro could wax a giant like Sony, but they clearly have.
Remember a while back when I said that Star Wars Canyon was most likely going to be history due to the F18 accident? Seems that the powers that be had the same opinion of the ever increasing "contest" to be the coolest subject and the increasing risk associated with those activities. Star Wars Canyon is a thing of the past for just the reasons that I suggested. Leadership up the food chain has increasing egg on their face for not taking those risks more seriously. Too bad, but one didn't have to be Carnak The Magnificent to see that coming.
I photographed Franklin Graham's "Samaritan's Purse" Dallas Headquarters this morning. Quite an operation, filled with, as one might expect, a group of the nicest people you could ever hope to meet. Coincidentally we are filling the Samaritan's Purse shoe boxes for kid's around the world at our house this week. The Graham Family, think about the impact one father has had on our fallen world, incredible.
