When I walked into the project early this morning the winds were light out of the south and temps were mid 60's. Driving away the winds were 40-50 out of the NW and temps were dropping like a bag of hammers and will level out at 21 this evening. Chandler was out at "The Barn" putting blankets on his horses, Brrrrrrr!

I photographed Franklin Graham's "Samaritan's Purse" Dallas Headquarters this morning. Quite an operation, filled with, as one might expect, a group of the nicest people you could ever hope to meet. Coincidentally we are filling the Samaritan's Purse shoe boxes for kid's around the world at our house this week. The Graham Family, think about the impact one father has had on our fallen world, incredible.
Hey Jim wasn't that the gentleman that was with us in the Hotel lobby last year at Alliance when we had our indoor thing because of the rain I think the plane was also at Alliance good stuff...
October was a VERY busy month for me, so I haven't had a lot of time to post anything, lately.
I had a job last week over in the ATL area and had a full day to just spend at Dekalb-Peachtree Airport and finally had the opportunity to see a Honda Jet in action. Plus, I got a friendly wave from the pilot.
Just would like to see someone paint their's different compared to the "standard Honda schemes".
Btw, Sheila and I saw “ Midway” last night and Chandler and I are going tonight. Great movie, except for the parts where Hollywood leftists play some of our most revered Patriots, but I guess Ya just have to overlook that Alec Baldwin playing General Jimmy Doolittle was a crime against nature years ago but what can you do?!)
Amongst those my family honors today are my Dad, a Naval Aviator trained at Great Lakes NAS and carrier qual'd on The Wolverine in a Hellcat, and Sheila's Dad who served 3 years, 11months and 16 days as a Chief Petty Officer on The Alabama. Your children, grandchildren and great grandchildren honor you and thank you for the free air we so casually breath.
I too went chasing steam this weekend. Left the house at 6am, drove 320 miles to capture two decent photos of the "Big Boy" at speed. I bypassed the stopping points for the sake of the action shots. There were huge crowds at the stops with the traffic that went with them, I didn't want to get hung up with the chasers.
Five mile east of Hearn, Texas
Crossing over I-45 near Buffalo, Texas ( this required a little 1/2 mile walk through the woods to find a spot overlooking the bridge )
Outstanding Zane! Wonder what it would look like if you mounted a go Pro to the center of a tie between the rails? It'd be risky, but the footage could be very cool!
Oh, and a word of caution. I hear that it was late into Longview and it was about 1 hour early into Marshall. Extras have to work around freight schedules. A number of people showed up on Sunday just before it was due to appear but it was early...

Getting in the mood for my second viewing of "Midway"...............
Jim, I saw the new Midway yesterday. I did a fair amount of research on how factual the movie is, it turns out some of the details that didn't seem to be factual actually happened, like Bruno jumping into a plane on the deck to shoot down a Japanese plane that was going to crash into the carrier, and got promoted by Halsey on the spot, and Japanese murdering him and his co-pilot by pushing them into the sea after they were captured.
I can't say I like Hollywood but I enjoyed this movie. The last movie I went to see was Dunkirk two years ago.
I feel the same way, well said! I suppose we were lucky to get as much patriotism as we did out of Hollywood in that film. While it would have been nice for it to be 100% accurate, the take away for me was what I already knew.....an unbelievable generation stood in the gap and did what had to be done, no therapy animals, no safe rooms, no coddling, just character. The irony of how far our weaponry has advanced and our character has regressed was not lost on me.............
A college kid (Texas A&M engineering senior) put his $1000 iPhone in between the tracks to film it....came away unscathed....I'd like to see the footage.

Doing some IT this morning, in amongst Photoshop and video post processing. A company that I follow, Backblaze, specializes in digital data storage. They send out a newsletter weekly with comprehensive reliability information on a whole bunch of hard drives that they use in their data centers. I've used their stats over nth years to choose the size and brands of hard drives for my arrays. They just sent me an offer on a new B2B Cloud back up solution they are offering that is way more economical than any of their competition like Microsoft, IBM,Google, etc. Their rate is .005 cents per GB, per month. They rent you a 70TB enclosure for a month for $550.00, you fill it and send it back to them, then they upload it to the cloud. Their fee for retrieving your data is .001 cents per GB. Actually this is a very good plan compared to any company that I have researched. Still, with the amount of data I have spinning next to me, that's $8400 a year for cloud storage, not counting any download fees if I needed to. I guess I'm arriving at the same place that I have for years, creating multiple arrays at multiple locations is still a more economical alternative to Cloud storage.

I figure we could put a 360 camera in the center and fasten it somehow, probably would be fine. I'm surprised the iPhone survived, one would think that there would be a bunch of wake turbulence between those rails.
