Intrepid is worth a visit yes. When I was there had Kfir, Blackbird - well A12, and a space shuttle amongst other many good things. The sub next door is worth visiting too.
Recommend Rockerfeller and/or Empire State to top and found bridge over to Brooklyn worthwhile.

I think that I mentioned the fact that I have fallen back in love with my 800mm Canon glass. I decided the I'd really put it through the mill at AFW 2019 and decide it's fate based upon the resulting images. Well, the 1DXII (soon to be III) and the 800mm are a lethal combo that I just don't think I can do without. CPS went completely through it a few months ago ($500 well spent) and it's as snappy as it ever was. This 800mm was the first one in the country so it's been in service for a while.
This image, full frame, is the icing on the cake. As long as I can lift it and there's Extra Strength Excedrin available, the 800 will remain in service....Show more →

Talk about perfect placement for the crossover point!

Better to be lucky than good Erich........... Just a wild guess based upon what was taking place. Man they were smoking the breaks on those cars at the end of those runs, you could smell the brake pads roasting. On th either hand, the MiG was loafing.
Thanks Dan! More luck, maybe instinctual calculations, than skill. The 800mm got me into the game and fortunately it was early enough in the day that the heat waves hadn't gotten to the point where they would destroy the images.
I wanted to be on the runway centerline (I know nobody is surprised by that) but the folks in the tower were a bit nervous about that.........

Jim, luck is part of photography but instinct is also intertwined in that equation! Again..spot on timing!!
